I would go with the thermal carafe, had both and currently using the glass one but my experience with the carafe one was much better! I like that there is no need to keep the plate warmer on to keep the coffee warm, I feel like with the glass one the coffee gets burn if you don't drink it fast enough! I also like that I can manually adjust the brew basket

Most coffee enthusiasts say the complete opposite. A glass carafe will keep heating it and ruin the integrity of the remaining coffee. This person cares more that the extra coffee is hot than the flavor. Considering this is a premium brand and the idea is to get the best tasting coffee from it the thermal carafe is the way to go.

I think you are talking about a glass carafe with a heating element beneath it, this is talking about a thermal carafe lined with glass, so as to not get the alleged SS flavor into the coffee.
