Google Voice is simply a free service where you have your own phone number that you give to everyone. It can run from a phone, tablet and/or computer. You can call and text from that number using only data, and nobody has any idea that it's not your actual phone. The "base number" is your cell phone's actual number that you wouldn't need to use at all, so it wouldn't matter if it changed.

I've done this for years because my employer provides me a cell phone but I wanted to keep my personal number separate. So I ported it to GV and have the best of both worlds using the same phone. If I leave this company, my GV number is unaffected. It also works great when in a foreign country because you only need a WiFi connection to use your GV service as if you were at home.

eSIM doesn't activate immediately, at least it didn't when I used to be on Mint and got a couple of eSIMs from them a year ago.
I agree, you have 45 days to redeem e-sim just like regular sim.

Ok so it's $17/month and not $15/month for unlimited data from t-mobile. 🤷

Why does everyone act surprised about sales tax?

FWIW I've used both Mint Mobile and USMobile side-by-side at the same time. The Mint Mobile experience was their 6 month plan for unlimited everything. And, USMobile was for a prepaid 1 year unlimited premium plan using either Darkstar or Lightspeed. When I needed to reach out for support, Mint Mobile was responsive and easy to work with while USMobile customer support seemed to be blunt, distant, and rough around the edges (as in, "why the F@#$ are you bothering us?!). For data, Mint Mobile was dependable wherever I used it which is not bad since I gather they are using the T-Mobile network. For data on USMobile is somewhat dependable but there were spots where it seemed to be slower than Mint. For hotspot, Mint was super smooth while USMobile was far more restrictive. They literally froze our account and made us "promise" to their compliance department (did not know they had one for "hotspotters") that we would not use it for hotspotting (what's the point of free data and hotspotting when you need it?!). For setup using the physical SIM (can't speak to eSIM), it was easiest with Mint while USMobile did take numerous tries. All in all, both are decent services but if you prefer AT&T over T-Mobile, then USMobile may be your "ideal" option. Since we understand the major carriers all have their pros and cons, we just go with switching back and forth when the right deal times itself right.

When my 1yr plan was about to expire in June, I called them for porting pin. They offered upgrade from my 15 GB to unlimited for $120 for 12 months. On other 2 family member lines, gave 12 months free to match Xfinity offer.
Probably I was lucky to get the deal but it should be easy to get Unlimited plan for $120

Got this deal once before for my GL.net device. Changed the imei code from an old phone. Unlimited hot spot data has been a game changer for long car rides with the kids

Just to clarify for others reading, the plan does not include unlimited hotspot (10 Gig limit after which it is not functional), but certain hacks can make certain devices look like they are using mobile data and thus effectively give you unlimited hotspot (with reduced speeds after 35G or whatever the cap is just like a phone would have).

Yes, 90 days. Though some have even gotten it sooner than that.
