You don't need to remove the card. Go to the storage settings for the camera and enable loop recording. It will delete the oldest recording to make room for new ones.

the 2K 4-pack is only $45

but note tapo cameras unlike every other security camera does not have a current image web address which is annoying, there's no way to get a snapshot from a browser

I capture images with all my Tapo cameras using Blue Iris. I don't know about this camera but I have a C110 and it uses ONVif. To capture images from an ONVIF-compliant camera using Blue Iris, you'll first need to add the camera to Blue Iris, then configure it to use the ONVIF protocol. This involves specifying the camera's IP address, username, password, and ONVIF port within Blue Iris. You can then utilize ONVIF events to trigger actions, like capturing images, based on events detected by the camera. Blue Iris can create a url where you can view your cameras and take snapshots as well. The Tapo app does it as well.

yes it has onvif but it doesn't have still image capture via http/s like every other camera

what some software does to fake the still image capture is grab a still from the video feed, which takes a few seconds and cannot be done without a third party software running (also possible via ffmpeg)

it's pretty stupid because it's a highly requested feature for years but the absolutely ignore the requests

also the microphone is never ever really off even if you select no audio in the settings - if you don't want some hacker snooping you need to put tape over the mic hole

Ya me too, I have the indoor outdoor one. Love it, never had any issues with it. Well one thing now. For some reason it wont after an update it wont let me just view it for more than 5 mins, I have to hit a button saying I want to keep watching.
So one thing you can do to get around this and I do for my 3d printer is setup a feed in VLC, I can then stream as long as I need if I am on my laptop.

These Tapos look the same as the Eversecu's I bought in Feb. The Evers are 2K rez and have 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Your choice. 2.4 might be crowded but can give greater range. No range problems at 5G. These are amazing.
I use the O-kam app for PC. It uses so little resources and CPU. I bet it works for this Tapo cams. Try it. It's a few years old but it works fine. Just don't try to update the firmware with O-kam app. I bricked one. No biggie.

I have one of these in a vacant office of mine. It does the trick and at this price it's a good deal. The trial to the cloud storage is nice, but I would suggest getting a micro sd card.

Love that we can view the products output / recordings online even though we don't have Tapo-Care cloud storage.
When you say 'online' do you mean through a PC web browser?

So, you are saying there are settings in the Tapo app that allow viewing online via PC web browser? I'm excited! Can you explain further where these settings are?

I have these, Eufy 2k, and Wyze (v1, 2, 3, OG) and these produce some of the best quality images but the barrel charge port is 15 years outdated and the location sucks (bottom). Wyze is the worst fo the group and Eufy gives this a run for the money at under $12 each for a 4 pack, this is a fair buy (assuming you don't mind the plug (both barrel style and location)

fwiw, it's either been that price for a while or comes and goes at that price a bit over the last few months.

will this work without an SD card reader? say i only care to get live view without any recording (local or cloud)
Yes. SD card or cloud recording isn't required. Just open the Tapo app and view.

I'm having trouble finding a Eufy 4-pack or anything else close to $12/camera. Can you help with a link?

I'd rather stick with Eufy's (free) rich notifications and USB power than Tapo's txt notifications and barrel plug.

Oh how frequently do you have to delete it? It's not like Wyze to keeps recording on sd card and overwrite old events?
