Got around 9 hrs of battery on low-mid brightness doing web browsing/youtube/movies with backlit keyboard only turning on when touched and balanced battery mode. its a solid computer, good aluminum build quality and no issues with speed. trackpads average, nothing special. touchscreen is good and responsive. its a glossy screen so it shows all reflections, not really a problem inside, but outside it wasnt great - combined with max 400 nits brightness i felt it couldnt get bright enough for outside use. And the zero gap/lattice less keyboard I could not get use to and kept having typing errors. Be sure she would like a keyboard without gaps or can get use to it if typing alot

Thanks for the excellent info! The Lenovo Yoga linked below popped up shortly after. Similar specs but Oled. I'm considering that one also. I'll probably go check out a display and see. https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/t/18488017

I went and looked at both the yoga and this. I really wanted the yoga with the oled screen but it just felt too small for me so I went with the omnibook

Friend don't let friends buy HP hardware. Also, HP is pure evil with how they handle ink cartridges and printing in general. Don't give them your money. If you want a PC, buy a new Lenovo using coupons or a cheap as dirt "refurb" Dell Latitude.

Im regretting my HP omnibook purchase
It's heavier than my 6 year old lenovo... It has this glitch where if you close the lid and then open it up again after some time then it goes into tablet only mode and there is no other way to get it back to laptop mode without restarting the computer.... buyer beware, there is a reason these are so cheap. Also the screen is super glossy and even while sitting inside with maximum brightness if the sun is hitting inside the house you still have issues with the screen.

My mother bought this model open box for 400, everything was good about it but the keyboard was not great to where it was a dealbreaker and had to return. I (and i assume most people) are used to there being some spacing between the edges of each key so you know what you are pressing, but we frequently kept mis-typing or not registering the key all the way down. If its something you can get used to then otherwise its a great, versatile machine for sure.
