Why do most Amazon listings start w/[Prime or prime members] rather than more important info?

many times it's not only for prime members. And what about those who don't have prime but may be willing to pay a little more for it? It's annoying for me because I'd like to see the most relevant descriptors without having to open the email or click on the link or scroll further… could you guys please cut that out? Or at least put it at the end of the descriptions of the item itself? thank you! … please read comments for more thoughtful discussion of the issue.

Hi Inbox, I totally understand where you are coming from, but I certainly hope that deals that don't require a Prime membership don't have that stuff at the front of the title (I am not sure why that would happen).

I know for me, for deals that have "limited access", especially paid memberships (Costco Members, Kohl's Cardholders, Prime Members, Walmart+) I put at the beginning of the title because I don't want to disappoint people that may click that don't have that membership...and if I put it at the end of the title, they might not see it, and they may get frustrated that I "clickbaited" them. Sometimes I even do it for Open box, or Refurbished items as well. If it is a Walmart+ exclusive deal, it would go at the front of the title "Walmart+ Members: great deal for $5", but for deals that aren't exclusive to those groups in the membership, I put that at the end of the title. "+ Free Shipping w/ Walmart+ or on $35+"

If you suspect a deal shouldn't have Prime Members: at the front, make sure to open that deal in incognito to see if you see the same price. Sometimes Prime Member only deals can be tricky to see as an exclusive if you are logging in with a Prime Membership. And if you do see it as incorrect, please consider making a comment in that thread.

I will consider changes on my end that might make it a bit better though, given your feedback. Thank you.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply daisybeetle! Yes I know people can get irate if it's a deal that they don't have access to that way. I think for most of the cases where it's not necessary, the posters usually don't know or bother to check if it's a prime only deal. But for those of us who have been here a while and need to go through a lot of listings quickly, I don't care about what memberships are involved so much as what the actual item is. If it's a great deal that I need, I'll figure out a way to get the membership etc. If necessary, so I would prefer that those qualifiers come at the end of the listing. and when I set up my alerts for Amazon, I can put one letter before the listing that indicates what store or membership it involves.
It would be great if we could all get used to using abbreviations to pack as much info as possible into the title, but that might be too much work for some I suppose. Amazon prime could be AP & we could have W+,U1…
**It would also be great to put what the prime savings is and then what the price is for people who don't have prime. Then everyone could take a look and see if they want it. Maybe that's something moderator could add?(maybe SD could get AI and that could be automated? posting would be easier for us) **it would also help people see if a membership is worthwhile by seeing often what kind of savings it would bring us per item!

I feel like newbies should have to scroll further down the title or click on links to see those descriptors and then as they spend more time looking at deals they will not care as much about those qualifiers as more veteran SDers tend not to. I just wanna quick glance and know what the product is immediately. If there shelves, which I'm always looking for I don't mind if they put main dimensions right in the title because that helps me a lot sort through deals. because that kind of detail is more important to me than even what store, those things I can find out later if it's even an item that is of interest at all.

I also like to use emails or the deal alerts page or my inbox or notifications page etc. as reminders or to-do lists for me. But for Amazon especially, too often I just see a list that says mostly prime member.., prime member..,prime.. that info is just useless to me.
