Participating restaurants have a compatible POS register system. Your receipt has a receipt number on the top which you enter into the app and it looks up your bill. You then pay via the app (gratuity can't be paid via gift card or promo). I usually let the staff know so they don't think I am dining and dashing.
An extra nice thing about this program is that it completely stacks with the restaurants internal promos/rewards. I've never had an issue with redeeming a club/rewards offer during the meal and then paying with inKind offers as they are separate processes

recent hack i found with this company. I was visiting Scottsdale and signed up for a bunch of Inkind codes by going to the restaurants website. used many of them which was great in its own right but when i got home and the ones i did not use expired, they sent me new coupons to use anywhere. so now i am using them in my home city at the restaurant of my choosing that participates in Inkind

Good catch - this happened to me back accident as well. So the lesson is, find restaurants you'll never eat at and register for their restaurant specific In-Kind code, and just let it expire.
Does this offer expire? I signed up but it tells me my phone is too old for their app. I was in the process of finally upgrading the phone so this will be an incentive.
Just an FYI, not all restaurants don't have a split bill option in the app.
Found this out the hard way today. Went with my wife to a restaurant and rang up a $70 bill that we intended to split since we both had $25 off promos on our phone. To my horror, there was no functionality to split the check. We panicked and basically just paid with one phone, only getting $25 off. Have other people encountered this, and is asking the waitstaff to consider splitting the bill the old school way the main workaround to deal with this for maximizing InKind benefits with multiple accounts?

I asked the server to split it, but I knew ahead this place didn't have the option in the app. But in your case I would have just asked after they brought the check. No big deal. I'm sure they do it all the time.
