I've got one of these and as a Qi charger it's lacking. Even in the winter it overheats and it only chargers at 7.5w so basically it's barely charging then not charging. The newer Anker qi 2.0 10mah is fantastic and even in the summer it didn't overheat and it chargers twice as fast.

It does 2 things well thou, the first is that the USB-c port charges at 20w and it's pretty small so it's a nice little powerbank, the second is that it has passthough charging so sometimes when traveling I'll charge it and set the phone on top overnight and while it will slowly charge it will charge both at the same time. I don't use this anymore thou but when my kid needs a charger I'll let them borrow it.

ETA 25w Qi2 is coming in the next couple of months

if you plug a short cable into it to charge directly to your iphone will it stay fast charging via cable if you then snap it to the back of your phone? Or does it switch to slow wireless

I've done that, it charges at 20w via the cable.

why would you want to wirelessly charge when it's only 2/3's as efficient and slower?

It's a convenient back-up option to have, but I definitely prefer to use the cable.
The cable also keeps the phone cooler, which is better for the battery life. Granted, the new Qi2 protocol manages temperature better that the Qi.
