180W PSU. Yeah, the new Arrow Lake CPU's are efficient but that's still kind of hilariously low. You have to add it to your cart to see this.

From what I've seen, what you're referring to are mostly the SFF systems that don't have a 7-class CPU and have very limited expansion options by design. This is a mini-tower system with three PCI-e slots for expansion. With that PSU, those slots are pretty useless except for maybe an extra NIC.

Don't do it if you plan on adding GPU. These boxes are tiny.

The Tower Desktop starts at $599 and the slim starts at $499. If the tower is on sale when you need a computer, sure, get the tower.Again (and yet again), this exact configuration in a mini-tower makes the mini-tower part somewhat useless. Doesn't mean the computer is useless. Obviously it's not a gaming computer, not sure where you came up with that.
I brought up gaming because you brought up throwing a full-height GPU card into it. I read somewhere the #1 use of a discrete GPU is gaming. Wink It was just an example. I'm not familiar with this new model, but past Dell MT desktops you could swap out the PS and use a cheap adapter from Amazon to fit it to the Dell system board, allowing you to add a GPU if you wished. Or, just buy the model with the 360W PS option.

Would someone be kind enough to point me in the direction of the best pc to get? The most intensive thing I do on it is running ConvertXtoDVD (yes, people still buy dvds). I have a Dell XPS 8300 right now with the HDD upgraded to an SSD, but it says in October it will stop receiving updates and it doen't have the correct components to upgrade to Windows 11. I just need something comparable to that.

Depends on your budget, these 2 are fantastic options that are currently discounted if you want something smaller:

$1024: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-o...uXEALw_wcB

$1249: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-o...Z2EALw_wcB

First off, thank you for the reply.

Is that not overkill for what I need it for? I'm not looking to do any gaming at all. The only thing I currently use my PC for is converting and burning dvds.

Most PCs nowadays come with no optical drive. Unless you have an external DVD Burner, none of those (nor this Dell) would work for you out of the box.

Sorry, I hadn't read the full context. If all you're doing is converting and burning DVDs, you'd probably even be good with a dirt cheap slower machine from the Dell refurbished outlet. I haven't touched a DVD in maybe 20 years, but I would assume the speed of that process will be affected by the speed of the DVD drive way more than the computer itself. Good luck, sir!!

Reading conflicting information but would a GTX1650 work in this (not super)? It draws up to 75w and has no power connector.

No......
PSU=180w
CPU consumes up to 182w. (No...This system won't blow up...as shipped....)

Don't plan on adding anything ot this system.
You can tweak builds to get a 360w PSU then you could perhaps add a low end GPU, assuming cooling allowed.

I'm not saying the follwing is a great deal but....
If you go here and get the "Tower Plus"....

https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/d...rectTo=SOC

It has a 450w PSU and starts at $699
You get a lower end CPU....which is actually fine.
It will be $150 to go form 16 to 32gb ram. (Consider Setting system to 16x1 so you can buy another 16gb much cheaper.)

They also want $100 to get a bigger SSD.....again not a good deal.

But that would be a better base to start out with if you want to add a GPU.

https://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/com...re_i7_2600 even the cheapest mini pc outperforms it now. Cinebench scores don't tell the whole picture, the GPU is much faster and would speed up the process. Don't need more than the min memory specs on eg the Karumi mini pc's. Need an external usb dvd drive like LG for only $20. The only problem with mini pc's is cooling if u run it 100% which it would be during the DVD rip and the cpu heats up and built in GPU for the transcoding. It is made to spin up and sound like a cheap minifan and doing that only a few times a week should last a few years but for long term use a cheapest late model tower or mini tower provides better cooling and would last u 10 more years than your 15 year old system. By then you can even find DVDs except as an antique like vinyl records now.

Nope, these are mini tower dimensions. You will struggle to fit a twin fan GPU.

Dimensions & Weight
Height: 12.76 in. (324.3 mm)
Width: 6.06 in. (154 mm)
Depth: 11.53 in. (293 mm)
Starting weight: 9.17 lb (4.16 kg)

https://slickdeals.net/f/18512947-bosgame-p5-mini-pc-ryzen-5-6600h-24gb-ddr5-512gb-nvme-ssd-wi-fi-6e-bt5-2-256-49?sort=oldest&page=2&src=category_page#commentsHeader I have been thinking and this is what I'd try. The n100 or n150 series would work. They are very slow, the win update when you first get them makes then nearly frozen for hours. A large desktop at multiple times the price is more than you need. Make sure you run the latest dvd rip program so it recognizes your new cpu and it's gpu. An old program might run but only use one core and could run 10x faster with the newer ripper app.

Still Far from a "Full Tower" but the "Tower Plus" models are slightly bigger...

1. Height: 14.68 in. (372.90 mm)
2. Width: 6.81 in. (173.00 mm)
3. Depth: 16.80 in. (426.90 mm)
Starting weight (minimum): 19.00 lb (8.62 kg)*
Maximum weight: 28.50 lb (12.94 kg)*

(The Discount on the Tower Plus is not as good...)
