I've always had the apparently unpopular view the these are just stackable utility boxes, not tool boxes. If I'm transporting tools, I'd rather that they be in one box rather than several stacked boxes.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank big mike

These have been 13 bucks or so a number of times, doesn't feel like this is much of a deal.

The toughsystem boxes are much more suitable for tools, these are like a poor man's festool if you use them for tools imho (one tool very well packed into one box)

I really like the TSTAK system. I have a primary tool box with my most commonly used hand tools, I have a box for cutting (jigsaw, oscillating multitool, various blades), a box for drills/bits/adapters, a box for plumbing-related items, a box for electrical related items, a box for hose and lawn items, etc. I keep an empty deep box that becomes my "collect all the odds and ends at the end of a project and bring them back to the basement for sorting". When I need to do projects i grab the stuff i need and leave the rest.
I no longer make my money with my tools; these days I am just a homeowner with enough knowledge and toys to be super dangerous. TSTAK is more than good enough for what I need. Plus they are compatible with the Craftsman Versastak system so I have deal alerts for both. This stuff goes on sale frequently enough that I've never paid full retail for anything.
That having been said, this deal is meh. I wouldn't feel ripped off buying this at $20 but it's not so special that i feel compelled to load up or anything.

They work for that, but original purpose would necessitate organizing by job/service rather than tool type. Consider a traveling service tech performing one of ten services for each client - it probably makes sense to have a box for each service, especially if you gotta walk the tools in.

Don't know about a few months ago, and at the risk of getting a 'time machine' comment, but I grabbed three on Amazon 5/24 for 13.76 ea -- I'm certain it was from SD, too. Even allowing for massive inflation in a year, there's no way $20 is a deal.
