Exactly!

This is the kind of phone you purchase, activate, and throw in the center console or glove box in case you ever have an emergency. And then you give it to your kid to use at home or in the car or plane for games, movies, reading or whatever.
Or it can be the at-home device for family members to use as a TV remote, control your smart devices, air conditioning and whatever.

So many vast uses for a phone like this.

It's a no-brainer at $40, tax included!

Just my $0.02. To each their own!

Its pathetic when one person likes to thread crap without providing any competing better offers. And that is simply because there are no viable alternatives in this price range for phone plus service. Trac has been my go to for all four kids for years. The great thing about these plans if you can keep stacking service plans, so need twice as much time is as easy as buying the next tracfone deal or buying two of these and combining the plans.

Motos usually come with almost 'pure' android... does tracfone add junk?
Boy do they, about 1/3 of the stuff can't be disabled as well.

How is this as a cheap little emulation device? Will it emulate GameCube?
Scanning some of the "vs" benchmark sites it looks like it lands pretty close to a 845, *but* about 25% behind in graphics horsepower

can 5g be disabled
Mine can, I'm on android 15 on my Moto Edge. Just go to settings, network, and I had to go into the network SIM settings and there were options to disable 5g 2g etc. Hope this helps.

I use AppControl on my PC, use the web instructions. Find a site that shows you what to delete. Be careful not to delete needed system files. One of the tricky ones was MOTO MOBILE SERVICES. That damn thing kept trying to install games until I deleted it.

Seems like a good deal for text verification?
Of Google Voice for that if you already have a number.

So it's fundamentally broken out of the box, needing to spend additional money to make it viable?
Well it's a different modality to most cell phone plans. I guess if you have very low use you could use it as a daily driver, but I personally use in case I want to activate a exotic device from my tech bestiary. Others use them as emergency phones to keep in the car, or a backup phone.

If you plan on using it as a daily driver and use typical data/texts etc, you can convert to the tracfone monthly plans. $40 for 20gb unlimited voice/txt, $30 for 10gb unlimited voice text/month, and lower tier plans (lowest paid monthly $15 1gb data, unlimited voice/text).
A couple points though, Tracfone is really one F*d up company in general. Tech support is ***very*** hit or miss. For example they shut down two of my lines (prepaid) and said that I called in and cancelled the lines, which of course is utterly ridiculous, and news to me. So now I have two lines with no beneifits (0/0/0) that expire in 6 months, and need to do the BBB complaint BS....more wasted time.

The other thing to watch for is that they seem to be enforcing (or at least more often) the at least one call a month thing, if you forget they may deactivate your line. This is kind of new as I'v had lines for years that I'v only used sporadically and never had an issue with. My guess is they want to push prepaid users to monthly plans. If they deactivate a line, like the they did mine, it was over an hour of B.S. on tech support trying to get them to reinstate it without extra cash (even though their website says, on the deactivated line info, you can reactivate without cost), at which point I was like, just F it.
But they are a cheap way to get verizon service if for a cell you don't use often or very low data usage.

Tracfone last time I checked, allows you to activate a different tracfone device stack the minutes and add 1 more year of service, up to a max of 4 times a year. Thus these dumb phones are often the cheapest thing that come pre bundled with service.

A little heads up on this one. This is what I've always done too, however, yesterday I tried through this same typical benefits transfer via chat I'v done a ton of times and two agents said they can no longer transfer the benefits without also transferring the phone number (ie if you just wanted to add time or benefits to an existing line, that line's phone number will be lost and replaced with the new phone). Sometimes you can call back (or chat) and a agent will give you radically different answers, but after two attempts I said F it and used the online tool to activate my cheap TF tracfone and merge into an existing line that was about to expire. This worked with a glitch or two, but is all good now.

Note this is anecdotal because if I chat with/called a 3rd rep the story might be completely different. I haven't kept up with the tracfone BS so this might be a known thing now, or it might be newly implemented, or it might be hit or miss with each rep/agent. They're typically kinda full of BS most of the time and working with what is a ridiculously janky system, so who knows what you'll get.

if you get multiples you can self refer yourself and get 50gbs of data and sell the phones for more than $35 on ebay. basically continually giving yourself free data/minutes for life. at one point of time i had like 20 of these which i sold all for a profit
Ibuythingshere, could you go over how you do a self refferal. Do you activate with a different email, list your primary account email as the "referrer" and then merge the line over to your primary account. Could you give some more details?

don't feed the troll. he's always in these threads preaching.

I hear you on how bad the CS can be but for these prices, ppl are willing to roll the dice. That's the game we play right? either you pony up $25 a month for a more legit wireless service, or you pay that same amount for the whole year but deal with occasional BS from them.

I have this phone, and it makes a great kid's phone or backup. I have the TracFone plan on the regular SIM (that's how it came), and then once it unlocked, I put the Helium Mobile Zero plan on the eSIM. If you use a TracFone rewards referral from someone, you should have about 6000 points in 2 months. You can use that to add minutes/data. Personally, I would add the 4100pt 90-day unlimited talk/text 3GB data, but it's up to you. You can also get a referral plan for Helium, but that's just worth a $10 gift card. Keep in mind that the Helium Zero plan is hard capped at 3GB/mo, not throttled.
How do I find a referral? I am signed up for the rewards already...

You really should learn the difference between pre-paid and post-paid devices, and more so, what authentication is considered applicable for each. These are pre-paid. They're flagged in all these authentication systems as "not a real phone number", since there's no credit check against your identity being done.
Why are you like this lol. Everything you've said has been dead wrong so far.

you cant merge accounts/points so you would use a new email and list the original email as the referrer. Both get 5k points and you'd have to move a line into the new account to redeem those points when they vest.
