6 months felt like a long time to wait when I grabbed my Metro Galaxy S21FE so I'd definitely never do a year.

Total has this phone for $49.99 and has the 60 day unlock. They also have the 2024 model for free with port in and some review sites say the 2024 is preferred over the 2025. If you don't want to pay the $60 for the second month, get with chat and ask them to apply their $10. month talk and text plan. This Metro deal makes no sense to me since a 1 year wait. Cricket also has this 2025 Stylus at $19.99 with port in and a 6 month unlock. Drop down to their $30 plan to save. Motorola direct has the 2024 Stylus for $249. fully unlocked and they do take trade in's.

I received my phone today, and the phone works with my Tmobile sim card.

But the longer one delays activating, the longer it will take to unlock the phone since it requires waiting 365 days after activation.

I am hoping that the free tablet becomes available again in the month for me to order one as I just activated this phone.
I'm a T-Mobile customer. This phone works on T-Mobile so I don't really care about unlock yet.

What are the apps that should be disabled/uninstalled after setting up the phone? Specifically, the apps that can cause other apps to get installed. I got a lot of bloatware installed after I activated this phone even though I declined to install whatever apps I had the option to decline during setup.

Besides the obvious junk apps like games, is it that the AppSelector, Device Manager and metroZone apps should be disabled and Mobile Services Manager should be uninstalled? There's also a Mobile Service app, but this one cannot be disabled or uninstalled.

How are you checking the unlock status?

When I go to Settings > About phone > Device details > Network Lock, it says the status is Locked with the following details:

But I think the statement "Device must be used on this phone number for 180 days." is inaccurate. The unlock requirement should really be waiting 365 days after activation.

Right. That is my question.

I have a different Motorola phone and mine says 180 days also but it hasn't unlocked after 6 months.

"Device will unlock after 365 days" [180 days is not valid anymore]

This is from experience of having a device older than 180 days and still locked.

even if I had the phone, I don't have a postpaid SIM to test it with. To be frank, if I had postpaid service kind of money, I wouldn't buy this cheap phone :yay:
lol this is Slickdeals, broseph. throwing shade at your fellow cheap bros? some of us on a postpaid account (which can be a great deal if you've bagged a bunch of free lines over the years with T-Mobile) want a decent phone at a bargain firesale price to use and don't care that it's locked.

I just tested with my T-Mobile postpaid sim. It's not working. It shows emergency call only on top.

Can I transfer this new line to an old phone and then transfer my main phone number (metro) to this stylus 5g? Do I need to wait one month instead?

Yes you can.
You need to have a spare compatible phone to do this.
1. Activate the new phone first.
2. Swap the IMEI with a spare phone.
3. Now Moto stylus 2025 is free to swap with your old phone.

so 13 pages and no one's gotten this phone yet to test if it being locked to metro would still work with a postpaid T-Mobile sim in it?
There's some confusion. There are 2 explicit datapoints below that I will try and clarify before mine comes in next week

Thank You lou2004 - what plan was it? Is it a Go5G+ or Magenta Max or an Amplified version etc?

if you can respond to the questions for oldNbroke, it will provide more clarity worship

Nice. We would love some more detailed datapoints. In the hopes of saving you time, you can just write in the numbers below:

1. You started the phone after inserting Metro SIM on startup after first time
2. You started the phone after inserting postpaid T-Mobile SIM on startup after first time (Metro SIM not inserted at all so far)
3. You started the phone after inserting prepaid T-Mobile SIM on startup after first time (Metro SIM not inserted at all so far)
4. After 1 you inserted postpaid T-Mobile SIM
5. After 1 you inserted prepaid T-Mobile SIM
6. What is the plan name the T-Mobile SIM is on?
7. Do you have another network SIM to test like AT&T?

I have the regular Magenta plan. I insert T-Mobile sim first. I did not activate metro service. After T-Mobile sim failed. Then I activate metro service with metro sim. I tried again with T-Mobile sim. Still no good.

AppSelector and MetroZone are the main culprits.

I started the phone with Tmobile simcard, and it shows 5G , I tested with youtube video and it works fine.
Then I activate the Metro simcard via their website and received a new number. My T mobile simcard is the Business Tablet internet only for $10.
I just tried with Tmobile sim card and it's not working anymore, I guess the activation caused it.
I also tried resetting to factory setting and it is the same, Tmobile simcard isn't working anymore.
But something interesting pop up on the Device Unlock, I took a picture.
Clicking on the Activate Temporary Unlock, required internet, so I turned on WiFi, it doesn't do anything.
So anyone with Tmobile sim card can try it before activating Metro service.
