Amazon seems to be getting flooded with these "new generation" lightweight plastic DC motor fans that are controlled by the same DC motor controller with BT (not Wi-Fi) app. This will render any previously dual-wired ceiling fan setup useless - does not need a separate wire for the light, and cannot be used with any wall mounted speed-control switches. That means the handheld remote control is your sole means of controlling the fan. While the BT app (on the surface) sounds like a nice idea, it's just proving too troublesome/impractical for me to grab my phone, open the app, go to either the light or fan page, to turn on the light or set the fan at a lower speed. While on the SPEED subject, these DC controllers aren't calibrated properly to the fan. The lowest speed setting seem to be too high. So for those installing these in bedrooms and wanting a gentle breeze to sleep at night, it's going to be too high. I am forced to run the fan BACKWARDS (winter mode) as a workaround - and my existing Wi-Fi wall mounted (Alexa connected) fan switch is now useless. If you just need a simple efficient fan that is quiet, do not mind the seemingly always-on-high settings, this fan is for you. In fact, there's even a cheaper option with a coupon now! $35 for a 42" version! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DBHKMWV1

None - because of the DC motor which requires you to use the DC motor controller that comes with the fan; no external speed controls are possible. If you try to vary the speed of the fan by varying the supply voltage (such as using external controllers such as Caseta and others), the DC motor controller will not respond, and will eventually burn out.

I bought two of these for outside. They're definitely cheap, and I know if the LEDs die on them I won't be able to find replacements. They don't move much air even on speed 6, but they're fine for what I need them for. It is nice that they integrate with Home Assistant (but only if you have your BLE less than 15-20ft from the fans, I had to build a BLE Proxy), and you can pair multiple fans to a single remote.

idk if anyone can point me in the right direction but I have a ceiling fan that stopped working (casablanca) and it has a wall button control on either entrance of the room its in. neither of the panels work (the light nor fan work) how can I troubleshoot?
or if I were to replace it with something like this product, would it work with the existing wall panels or similar panel compatible with this fan? I know it comes with a remote but would be nice just to press a button on the wall when coming in/out.

thanks for reading

I was about to post the same thing. I absolutely Hate all the DC motors and the need for the remote in order to control them. Usually the easiest way for folks to tell if it has a DC motor if it's not in the item description is to look for the old school pull chains on the fan you're considering. Then you can avoid the 'modern' versions and take advantage of your existing house wiring especially if you want to use a modern day Smart Fan Controller/Switch.
I even found one model where the 'remote' controller was built into the wall switch and it actually used AAA batteries inside the gang box! Have to remove the plate if you ever needed to change the batteries. (SMH)

shocking. you mean a slickdeals staffer would post garbage for us to buy?!

of all the things im going to cheap out on... a cieling fan is not one of them. its a lot of work to reinstall if its a bad product, and im not trusting some temu factory to make a motor i hang above my living quarters, let alone make a product that is nicely balanced..
You are so right about that and just about any other labor intensive job. Automobile parts are another area where you don't want to try to skimp by on cheap no-name parts during the repair or replacement.

I bought three of these after considering a model from Home Depot that was $65 but had no remote and generally no frills. These install super easy. Remote works great - very responsive, level 6 on the fan is amazing for our 15'x15' rooms, and the LED light is super bright but dims nicely via the remote. I'm sure they won't last forever but for the price, it can't be beat. The best part is your put it 99% together on the floor or table, then mount it versus the Home Depot model where your arms are up in the air for 30 minutes adding piece by piece.

I stayed away because one person said it wobbles and looks very cheap
Wobble could be from bad installation job. Most fans I've seen wobbling is due to bad installation job not secured to the beam

Too bad the coupon only applies to the black one. I'd rather have the white or a silver one.

I installed 5 of a very similar fan last summer. They all had the same remote as these so I'm assuming they all come from the same place.
2 failed immediately, on 1 the fan wouldn't go faster than low and on the other 1 the lights were stuck in 5000k. Amazon gave me a refund on both without having to return.
The other 3 still work fine. 1 has a bit of high pitched noise while running.
Main reason I went with them instead of something known from Lowes is because I needed the remote(no existing switch), integrated light, and a very small size to fit between beams on the ceiling.

I have it installed, my ceiling box is not 'fan rated' it looks like but it supports fixtures up to 50 lbs.. i think I might be good.. debating on getting a rework box.

That aside how do you pair this thing? The instructions are terrible and the app isn't that great either.
