Decent deal considering current used (good condition) market is at least $650 and Samsung official site's certified refurbished is $1k.
This is also the last known variant which stylus supports bluetooth, useful for taking pictures with pen button click. S25U was a dealbreaker.

I think most users would much prefer a MicroSD slot for memory expansion, if given the choice between that and the S Pen. That was a big advantage that Samsung had over Apple in years past, which to me was foolish to do away with. There are workarounds like cloud storage, but nothing beats plenty of onboard storage.

people flocking to 700$ nearly 2 year old phone is the demise of SD.

It's a great phone, but the popularity of the deal is absurd.

Samsung shop on walmart.com, they discount phone price on 36 month payment plans if you sign up for a new line with verizon or at&t. once you receive the phone you pay the entire balance off and cancel the new line. S24 Ultra sold out instantly. S24+ is still available for around $360

Phones like these lose like 80% of their value after 3 years. There's really no need to be upgrading phones often.
I bought a Note 20 Ultra a couple of years ago for $200. I can sell it back for $200 right now.
Will upgrade to the S24 Ultra in a couple of years when it will be around $250 and my Note 20 Ultra will be $180. $70 upgrade.

That's a good way to look at these flagship phones. The fall off from value comes from demand and the ones who spend money have high disposable income (which are the main consumers these are sold to). the turnover with people upgrading phones from these same people is quite high because a lot of them just have to have the latest. at most, they hold onto the phone for 2 years. now you got former flagship phones that are 2 years or older and they just drop in value to 20% or 30% of their MSRP, although you have to dig for places that offer them at those low prices.
It's the same with cars.
Once a car hits like 7 years old, it loses like 70% of its value and the most you'll lose after driving it is around 10%.
I used to upgrade phones every two years when I was younger.
When you get older, you realize it's just the same with slight improvements in camera quality and processing speed. I've learned to just use it until it breaks or is too slow for modern apps. If it can call, text, browse videos, and take good photos, I'm not going to spend my time and money to make incremental upgrades.

the best phone ever made (to date). its the ultimate king! BUT 256 is less for it. memory slot was canceled after note 10+. have had this phone for 1.5 years and won't trade for anything including the S25 ULTRA.
color does not matter these days and covers kill that aspect of the phone anyway.
1.5 years ago I paid about same with a trade of my note 10+.
If you mean the sd card the Note 20 Ultra has one too. It's going to remain my daily driver as long as possible as I'm not willing to pay their ridiculous prices for a 1tb phone when I can have one with a memory card instead.

Why can't you just carry a USB C thumb drive and transfer photos/videos on the fly? Much cheaper option than paying the $100-150 extra for just storage.

It's very easy to pay hundreds more for this phone, even after shopping around...Samsung is selling the 512GB version refurbed for $1139. It's also nearly impossible to find new sealed unlocked with factory warranty for this price. If you want to trash the deal that's your choice, but it's the very best deal available for anyone who wants this phone.

Or maybe everyone who loves this deal is wrong and you're right. Either way I'm pretty sure this post isn't the demise of Slickdeals.

Heck, if anything a lot of stuff has regressed in these new flagship phones.headphone jack removal, no more microSD card slot, removable battery and my most wanted feature of the fingerprint sensor is now on the screen which isn't as fast/reliable as a physical one.

I'm running with a Fold 4 and the screen is quite durable but it crapped out on me after just short of 3 years owning it since the main cable inside behind the screen just wore off. and the cable can't just be replaced. it has to be the whole screen since it's nearly part of the screen. the whole phone enclosure is adhesive/glue based so it's quite the ordeal to remove it (heck, to even put it all back together). So I"m here looking for a new phone after enjoying the fold for nearly 3 years. I remember they did a test with folding and unfolding the phone thousands and thousands of times but the reality is, the durability isn't realistically tested when those physical folds don't factor in the aging of internals by weathering and long term temperatures. I have to use the phone closed at the moment until I find a good deal but I can still use it like normal , just without the unfolded screen. Good enough for me until a Slick deal comes up during Black Friday. I would highly recommend trading in your phone before the 2 year or 3 year mark depending on your usage. I babied my phone and never really dropped it. the screen protector was the first thing that wore off. the overall value of owning the phone is still good personally because I only paid approximately $550 out of pocket for a $1800 phone.
