All displays showing the same content isn't true. As long as you use one HDMI port and one Display Port. You can't use only Display ports. It might all be an extended screen, but when you maximize windows in the different monitors they only show in that monitor. I've done this using a m1 mac and have two monitors one showing the main screen and the other showing the extended screen, in a vertical position (shows documents vertically so they can be scrolled down page by page). It works the same way on my m3 laptop.
