I think they were on sale for around $200 about a year ago.
I bought the wedge sole ones. They're not as dressy, but I absolutely love them.

Visually they look more like dress boots than work boots to me to be honest.
Guess you're right, but they look too bulbous to me to be a dress boot.

Love my iron rangers too. Also love my White's MP service boots in black. Picked up both on eBay for about $250 each (iron rangers were new, white's were used, they're normally $500-600 lol). i will keep them both forever. I had a pair of 1K miles too but consensus is the iron ranger is a better boot even if a little less dressy.

I'm looking for a good dressy-ish goodyear welted boot, is it going to be allen edmonds higgins mill?
My preference for goodyear welted dress boots are Crockett & Jones and Carmina

The boots being sold in this thread don't have leather outsoles, they have Vibram rubber outsoles. So for anyone considering this deal, the wear rate of leather outsoles won't come into play.
Chances are he's referring to the inside pigskin leather insole or what's actually most likely a fiberboard or leatherboard insole with a layer of pigskin on top. This insole sits just above the cork filling to fill in between the welt that connects the midsole and outsole to the insole and vamp.

Weston @ Rose Anvil cuts boots in half, and this would be a good deep dive into this particular boot to understand what you're actually buying:

Check some cut in half review videos, these boots are not the best, maybe even not good.

Are these worth $280? I've been casually looking at boots like this; Iron rangers, Thursday Captain StormKing, Loake, etc. Should I pounce on this, or will I see this price a lot?

I do not know if anybody can predict if these will go on sale again. Most of the brands that you mention are high quality..with slightly different style.
This deal is approaching Seconds pricing...especially with the Rangers. And good luck finding those in stock.
If you were looking for a pair...and you like this style, you will be very pleased. I have a couple of pair of the 1000 Mile. And I suspect that they will outlive me. There is a little breaking in involved...but they are super comfortable once broken in.
My personal thought is that the 1000 Mile strikes the balance of durability that you get from Rangers and more dress like that makes them appropriate for a wider range of dressing up that you get from the Captains.

Have you ever owned the boot? Take it from somebody who does, they are excellent and a serious competitor to Red Wing.

You might want to go back and take another look at those reviews. Like this guy I linked. He openly says he gave the boot a bad review....BEFORE he understood what to look for.

I did buy a black one from last year sale. I think they are good from the outside, but the cut into half review say they are not.

I bought last year's and I think everyone is confusing this deal as the same thing. Unless I got a one-off or misordered, mine are the exact same style but have a vibram heel with leather sole. They are excellent boots, full leather is almost like your own skin once broken in and people notice them every time I wear them. That said, the leather sole is what I would call a bit delicate, so I don't use them for daily wear.
These have full vibram across the sole, which may explain why the price point is higher. Worth $100? idk, subjective like everything else. I wouldn't worry about the soles wearing out quickly on these, if anything they may be a little unforgiving. If you have leather soled ones and are worried about wear, there are rubberized sole guards you can stick on them that'll catch the brunt of wear and keep you from having to re-sole as often.

I bought a pair of these last October at this very similar discount. One of the most uncomfortable pairs of boots I've ever worn. The website doesn't tell you that these run a FULL SIZE to a SIZE AND A HALF large. There's no way to know this until you put them on. They also CHARGE YOU a restocking fee if you return 2 times.

I ordered my normal 10.5 (without knowing the size issue), and it fit a little large not huge, so I returned them for a 10 and it fits like an 11. So, throwing away $75 in restocking fee because they can't get their sizes right is a huge pain.

The exterior of the boots seem fashionable and durable, but the size issue and the comfort issue make this deal a 2/10.

Anyone that can comment on sizing? Just curious if they run large/small. I usually order up half a size from my regular shoes since I normally wear thicker socks in the winter.
They run large...I bought the size I expected and it felt between a half and full size too large. I do like the boots, they are well made, but I'd do a half size or full size down if I ordered again.

They run 1/2 size large. Great boots though.

So don't cut your boots in half.
To paraphrase a common quote.......Trust your lying eyes. And take a cue from the link I attached. Sometimes even "Experts" can be wrong. This one admitted it.
