Will this work on the switch? 8BitDo has another ultimate that is labled for the switch 2. Other than the action buttons in colors on this, they both look exactly the same but the other one is still at $60.

No, the Switch uses a different protocol for their controller versions.

Ignore PerlAddict - this will work with the Switch/Switch 2. This unit has a 1000hz poll rate, while the BT version listed for the Switch is only 250hz poll rate.
This unit WILL work with Switch, but you will NOT be able to connect via BT. You must use the included dongle (usb-c) either in the cradle or take it out and plug directly into the Switch USB-C port. Enable Wired Pro Controller setting to Enable (System Settings > Controllers & Accessories > Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Wired Communication - Enable/On). Yes, it will connect wirelessly to the dongle (which is what is plugged in either via cable to cradle, or the dongle directly in USB-C port) - this is just the setting to enable this connection because the Switch detects it as a wired connection - but it's not.
Two things that must be true for all this to work:
1) You must have updated to the latest firmware from 8BitDo (always a good practice anyway, but there was a firmware update to allow this feature that is required). Use 8BitDo Ultimate Software (v2).
2) For controller to operate/connect to Switch, you must hold the "Y" button when powering on the controller to enable Switch mode. If not, it defaults to Xinput mode and will not connect as desired.
It's worth it - the controller is amazingly rock solid, incredibly accurate, and the internal gyro is smooth and steady. I prefer it even over the built in joycon gyros. Finally, toggle the triggers to short throw (clicky) as Switch does not use analog triggers (long throw). Great for Zelda, Mario Kart, etc., to have that great clicky feel and instant response.
Finally - as with most non-Nintendo controllers, the wake-up feature is not possible with the 8BitDo and it does not have NFC (for Amiibos).
The only other controller that I have found that is worth buying for the Switch 2 that has the wakeup function and NFC is the EasySMX S10. Only buy if you realllly like the clicky button feel (like mouse buttons). I love the button feel, but I prefer super clicky/tactile buttons/bumpers/triggers for Switch (not PC or Xbox, however).
