Whatza "HC hotel" Confused

Hotel Collection..., but... "The Hotel Collection requires a minimum two-night stay." Methinks that'll also exceed the benefits of the bi-annual $300 credit..

Amex credits are based on "posting" date, not "purchase" date.

So if you go to Lulu/Resy on 9/30, and it doesn't post (though you'll see "pending" in the Amex app) until 10/1, you're out of luck for the third quarter...you've now used the 4th quarter credit. I'm basing this off my experience with Amex...with Hilton credits in particular.

And, I may be mistaken but don't think I am, the Uber credit has gone from $200/annually ($15 month/$20 December) to $10 monthy that only applies to Uber One and you have to toggle off Uber Cash...which is a no go for those of us buying GCs at Costco...

You are mistaken.

The uber credit hasn't changed at all.

There's a NEW credit, for Uber One subscriptions specifically-- which is not $10/mo, it's $120 per calendar year, but spread out however you want (so you can buy monthly or annual)

You're better off with monthly, so that you could potentially buy annual right before cancelling the card as explained earlier in the thread.

No, they are not.

The U1 credit is entirely new and $100-120/yr value if you use U1 anyway.

The digital one is $60 a year higher than it used to be, and covers more services than it used to.

If you want to the Oura Ring. Sign up with Clear and there is a 10% off on the new Oura Ring 4 max discount of $50. Or you can go through Lululemon and get $40 off.
The Oura ring benefit makes no sense. It oniy works on their hardware.

Who needs to buy a new ring every year?

It doesn't work on the subscription which is $70 a year.

Buy the $200 version the first year for free, then each year buy another "free' one and resell it on facebook marketplace for half price- which is more than that years subscription costs Big Grin

That said, I'd expect most Plat. card holders already have some kinda fitness tracker via phone/watch, so I agree it's a pretty trash credit.

The Resy credit is the superstar of this refresh for most folks, though some will get -some- value out of the U1, Lululemon, and increased hotel credits.

Did they adjust the companion card benefit as well? I know Gold was always complimentary but looks like this merged the benefits better?

I have 175,000 point offer from AMEX. Is that the best offer you can usually get?

does it still make sense to get the gold card first and then go to the platinum to maximize free points?

if somebody cares enough to do the gold first how long do you have to wait before you can get the platinum?

WoW! Complete BS! Those "fine hotels" cost more than the credits they give you. You'd think they would increase the airline credit or allow you to bring extras into lounges for the higher AF. Makes me think all the other benefits are 'softer' with higher profit margin.

Has anyone every used Resy and have it benefit you?
Resy is super slim pickings unless you live in NY/LA/Chicago, but you might find a few restaurants that are part of it. There's a handful of $200-a-plate type places.

I'm in NC and there's dozens of places in a 15-30 minute radius of me- none of which are $200 a plate... (a few are probably $50, most are pretty normal)

THAT said- the website is awful for actually finding them in any sort of broad area.

For example since they seem to force you to search by City, I began with Raleigh NC.

Then I zoomed out to show the whole RTP triangle (which again, all of it is within a 15-30 min drive) and hit search this area--- and it added no additional restaurants to the search.

But if I search for Durham NC (one of the cities shown on the map when I hit search this area) it magically brings up another bunch of restaurants.... then more in Chapel Hill, Cary, etc....

So there are in fact dozens in my area, but you're hard pressed to SEE dozens in any single search. Which is pretty awful UI.

So that might be your situation too (or you might legit live remote enough there's few options, I dunno)

LOL- QUICK EDIT

I decided to try the app instead of the website.... that brought up a TON MORE restaurants, including 5 within 5-10 minutes of my house that didn't show on the desktop website at all- and shows them to me on the whole map not just a single city.

So you might try that-- apparently it's just that their website search is garbage.

To get the Uber One credit, you have to turn off any Ubercash balances...many of us buy Uber GCs at a discount.

So wouldn't the annual fee make much more sense, as you can then switch it back to ubercash right away? Otherwise, you'll need to remember to toggle on Ubercash everytime...which based on my families experiences in the past, they tend to forget many times.

I would take it lol. My wife was trying to apply before the new AF pricing so she can save $200 but she kept getting 80-100k offers so we had to withdraw the application and wait until we can try again so we can get closer to 175k. She does have a gold card acct still open but not sure if that changes anything even though she tried signing up on incognito mode.

I think this is a misreading of the wording--- you have to insure you're billing the U1 membership to your amex, instead of paying with uber cash.

You can select uber cash per-ride/food order- nothing stops you from using it for that stuff... (in fact you HAVE to if you want to use the $15/mo credit this card also comes with for orders/rides)

'New' benefits are just illusions. Not one worthwhile Resy restaurant within 25 miles. Hotel credit is for reservations booked through AMEX portals which are much more expensive than what you can do yourself. Uber and digital subscription credits arethe same as what they have been offering for years. The $300 lululemon Credit / $75 each quarter
and $200 Oura Ring Credit (new) are for websites that have no interest. Only reason that I may stay subscribed is the $1000 yearly credit through Schwab, although last year I got a 1099 for the $1000 credit which reduces the actual credit to around $600 vs $900 annual fee.
I think Resy may be very location specific. While it was not front and center in my conscience, it appears virtually every sit down restaurant in San Francisco uses Resy. I've apparently had an account since 2017 and have made over a dozen reservations. I had no idea till I started looking into the amex benefits.

You can sign up for Lululemon 15% off with new email (only for full price items), use the Amex $75 on top. Then Lululemon has a partner program for $40 discount on Oura Ring (someone else mentioned it) and use the $200 off from Amex...so basically a discount chain.

After the quarter ends, I'll probably sign up for another 15% off for Lululemon. I use Protonmail's SimpleLogin service to manage all the various email aliases I have setup.
