Yes, UA-- you're buying travel bank credit with the $200, not miles.
The travel bank $ can be used to buy tickets (or pay for incidentals I guess) but not buy miles.
I usually use the TB cash for positioning flights for point bought premium flights overseas if needed, or other domestic coach travel where it's not worth using good points.
That said, I'd expect most Plat. card holders already have some kinda fitness tracker via phone/watch, so I agree it's a pretty trash credit.
The Resy credit is the superstar of this refresh for most folks, though some will get -some- value out of the U1, Lululemon, and increased hotel credits.
In short, keep trying
I have the amex gold and every cash, don't spend alot and the pub offer is 50k. Incognito gives me 80k.
When I first applied for the gold 2 years, amex sent me an offer for 100k+ after a couple days but I didn't apply at the time. Seems like they only give the high offers to new people and ones that have potential to spend a lot and be profitable for them which make sense.
I'll try again next year, no rush to apply now since the fee went up.

And as a side question, does anyone know if the Platinum fee itself counts towards the min spend amount?
I think most of the benefits are good but the only one I don't get is the $200 Oura ring hardware credit... if it could be used for the monthly subscriptions, I'd consider it worthwhile but I don't see how I'd use $200 credit on Oura hardware every year.
I would say it's random. I tried so many times on my account that I got the rejection letter for too many inquiries and got declined. I think those last for a month? My wife barely uses her cards because the main spenders are on my name… Bilt, sapphire and random 1 card for xyz reason. She's in the low 800s and I am in the upper 700s. I remember reading Amex looks at the whole profile so maybe age of credits, type of credits play a factor.
She did have the Amex everyday card (translucent card?) and I had the Amex gold card like almost 10 years ago. That probably doesn't matter but just throwing it out there.

Maybe it was a mistake for my gf to add me as AU. It's her main credit card now for groceries and dining. They seem to target those that rarely use their products?
Either way, I only see 80k in the ads. All the other ones require you apply first.
Im holding out for at least 125k.
