Spent $900 a year ago on one of these. In for a second. This thing is absolutely earth shaking without being boomy.

Was debating on this but decided to build a Marty cube 18" =P instead and shake the whole neighborhood.

the 14 inch for $700 x2 is the sweet spot.

I bought this a long time ago at best buy for 60 bucks. I suppose this 1000 unit would bring down the ceiling.

Have you noticed a big difference after adding the second sub? I have own one RP 1600 SW I am debating if I need to spend $1000 for a second one. Is the additional bass worth the money? thoughts?
That's a very subjective question! In my case, I wanted a second sub because even though the bass was butter smooth, I could still feel a spot in half of the room where it was thin. And really, I could sense I was close to reproducing some of those ribcage-jiggling LFE effects you get in good theaters. Some people don't care about that, and most of my music doesn't even involve the subs; the RP8000s have plenty of bottom for most stuff. But when I'm doing multichannel and those little green lights come on, it's just a wall of sound and I don't regret a dime of it.

Technically you don't have to spend this much if you're after bringing down your ceiling.
You can accomplish that for much less.

IF you decide to get this keep in mind the size, it's almost double the size of that Yamaha sub.

Keep in mind, a second sub doesn't necessarily add more bass.
It's more about spreading out the bass you have more evenly & efficiently.

If not properly calibrated it can actually make things worse at your seating position(s).

Decent price. Never heard em in person but alot of positive. The rest of my system are klipsch, if I didn't have a hsu research vtf3 mk5 already, I'd probably buy this.

How does this compare to the monolith m15 v2 from the other day?

From experience I would say they are fairly similar, would only hear the difference side by side imo.

My impression, I would say the Mono would be "tighter" with more authority, mainly in mid bass.

The Mono is significantly bigger and heavier but it was less expensive.

I wouldn't touch a Monolith with a 10 foot pole, been burned by them too many times. If the amp fails, they make you send the whole subwoofer back to them. Unacceptable.

If your serious about bass, you need at least two to even out some of the nulls all rooms have

So instead of spending $2000 on these, rather 2x DIYSG lavoce 18" subs and a separate 2ch amp. Just my opinion

Extremely doubtful. You'll need a Van or a truck to haul one of these suckers. I have the 2x14 of these and the boxes would not fit in any sedan and probably not anything less than a mid-size SUV.

Roughly the size of a dishwasher box.
I thought he meant to install and was being funny lol

4. One for each corner of the room.
