I have FOUR Klipsch sub amps sitting on a shelf in my shop; two are just dead, the other two do great at putting out hundreds of watts of hum.
I've used a lovely 12" SVS for years, a company that knows how to build amplifiers.
Caveat Emptor.
I bought this 16" Klipsch to replace a very large el-cheapo Audiosource sub that I modded back in the day. It died last week, probably just a fuse, but I figured this was the right time for an upgrade.
With this preamble, here's the short review:
1) Worth it? Absolutely.
2) Good in a small room? Yep, one of the pleasant surprises is that this big Klipsch isn't boomy at all. It forms a seamless part of the soundstage. One of my biggest concerns was that this would be overkill or poorly matched for my smaller space. That is definitely not my experience.
3) What's it like? Sometimes you'll really notice the sub -- cannon fire in _Napoleon_ or _Master and Commander_. But most of the time this just fits into the larger whole of a soundtrack or song, making the whole experience sound richer and more immersive.
4) Hard to move? Big box. We got it up the stairs with me pulling from the top and my 5'2" wife and 75 year old mother lifting each step from below. A rolling mover's dolly helped me position it in the room, but probably wasn't strictly necessary. This sub isn't heavy so much as very awkward.
5) Other stuff you liked? I listened to some 90s Trance songs on YouTube and was once again very pleased at how rich and full and rounded the sound was, despite the relatively poor source material.
6) What sounded great? The 4k of the movie _300_ with its Atmos encoding, the Atmos on the 4k Blu-Ray of _Game of Thrones_, YouTube, pretty much everything.
7) Anything else? This is not equipment you need to fuss or fiddle much with. I plugged it in, touched none of the controls, and started listening. It sounds great out of the box.
This was a good purchase for my needs and I would definitely do it again.
