These are not practical if you use them just for one mess. The machine cleanup is not worth it unless you're cleaning several spots at once.

I purchased this recently from Costco. looks like comparable functions but a little bigger. It was an impulse buy on my part but works OK. I kind of expected that it applied steam as it was vacuuming it off but it's basically a wet vac with a solution sprayer integrated. I just use relatively hot water and don't fill the entire tank and had decent results on a fabric-covered bed frame. No direct comparison, however, to any other method.

The vacuum on these is pretty weak. It's fine for small spots, but I would never try to clean a whole vehicle interior with it.

Can some company please make a compact one with STRONG suction (AC or not but retractable cord) and very easy, near self cleaning ability. What an idea! For pet messes! Not the whole house.

Tips: Oh and pre treat with your own mixure, and make your own mix for the machine too optionally, or just use hot water after per-treating with cleaner, urine stopper. You can use a very small amount of 3% peroxide diluted (OXY) (carpet fade test first) to prevent mold and also help stop urine smell.

Then AFTER thoroughly and completely dry; if any negative smells persist, on cleaned dry, old smells, then sprinkle scented baking soda, work it in deeply and leave it 3 days before vacuuming.

Never ever fail to clean your machine, immediately after use. It's not pretty.
