Unless you enjoy wand cleaning - spend the extra money for a portable unit with built in scrubbing where you can just set it on the stain and walk away.

I have this one and the one like you describe. The auto cleaner works great except you can see a circle that is super clean and realize how dirty the rest of the carpet is.

I own a shop vac which I repurpose as an extractor. The regular hose work just fine but I believe they sell attachments just like the one in the Bissell as well. The reason I'm saying this is because I believe a shopvac is a lot more powerful and also may be a better investment.

I didn't even realize an auto unit like this exists. Glad that you commented the pitfalls of using such an item though as I wouldn't have considered that

Had this and hated how hard it is to clean out the collector tank.

The machine started leaking water after a dozen of uses in 2 years so we got rid of it.

Shark's version of this is much better. More attachments, can MUCH more easily clean out the dirty water tank, built in hose cleaner etc. Would pay the extra money over this if you think you'll use it a decent amount at all

I had one of those. It tended to leave alien crop circle like rings on the carpet and I'd still have to go over it with the wand.
