i just assume amazon name brand deals like this are because the product is already going stale at this point based on experience.

The dangers of shipping chips and them getting crushed doesn't bother me. I've done it several times and maybe they were slightly more crushed than normal but not really a noticeable difference.
However, I think this BBQ flavor is NOT good, and I think in general all of the Kettle brand chip flavors aren't as good as they used to be. Not sure what has changed, if anything, but it's like a weaker version of what you'd expect across the board in terms of flavor. Even the Jalapeno flavor is barely there.
