Currently cheaper to buy 3 month cards of PC gamepass which converts to 2 months of Ultimate.

currently $36 on Amazon so that's $18 per month of Ultimate converted.
According to this, 3 months of PC Game Pass should convert to 60 days of Ultimate. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/he...onversions

If you go to your subscriptions and have recurring payments on, you'll see that next billing is $29.99. So op's not scamming.
Mine still says $19.99 but its due to renew on Oct 11. Maybe bc I've had the service for a long time and typically get free codes from MS rewards or discounted ones from cdkeys?

In my opinion, I wouldn't take advantage of any of this. The only way Microsoft/Xbox learns from this is by NOT giving them any of your money. Taking advantage of these deals still generates more revenue for Xbox/Microsoft.
f*ck them for all of their terrible decision-making after the Activision deal. Studio closures, layoffs, raised prices on consoles, and GamePass.

I have Ultimate, and did the VPN thing up until about a year ago, am paid up until 09/2027. Yes, got by dirt cheap for years. I still find value in Ultimate, with some of the AAA offerings. No, I won't pay $30/mo, nor will I pay $20/mo. However, in doing some scrounging this morning I found a site that has the 3-month Ultimate for about $47 ($15.66/mo), and maxed out my account (09/2028). Did 4 separate transactions to ensure each code was redeemed without issue.

I had found an EA 12-mo. pass deal, with conversion that would have been about a buck cheaper, but went this route to not have to spend an hour entering codes.

https://www.play-asia.com/xbox-ga...13/70gnft?

I did the PP quick checkout feature. Again, I purchased and redeemed no issues, codes came within minutes.
The price went up to $56

If I can't get it for <$4 a month, no thanks. I don't play GPU enough to justify it.

In 2022 I stacked 3 month passes from cdkeys for 3 years of gamepass ultimate for $60 total. Mine expired in may 2025 and was waiting for another deal, guess that'll never happen lol. Also used to buy a year of Xbox live and PlayStation plus for $30-40 or at most $50 each. These companies are getting greedy

I did not have automatic billing turned on, and I was offered 1 free month if I turned it on while adding a 3 month sub from Amazon. So you can get that if you have it off to start. You can disable it right after and won't lose the time.
Yep, same for me. Just make sure you have recurring billing turned off before redeeming the code.

Competitors usually do silly things together. I'm preparing myself for Sony to drink the silly sauce and try to screw up their goodwill, too Frown

remember when online play was free on the PS2..? just like with a PC, i don't have to pay Steam/Origin/whoever extra money just to play with friends, just my ISP for the connection.
the good old days.

i don't need or want any extra crap, just want to play with friends on the system and games i already bought. kinda like Amazon to me... can i just pay for the 2 day or less shipping and not the rest of your useless garbage services that you keep raising the price for??? then you have the audacity to slap ads on you're already limited and crappy streaming service!?!?!

Satya Na...Nad...Nada gonna get my money any more! As a parent who bought the Series S for my son who just wanted to try a bunch of things out, I'm really disappointed. This is like 10 years of Netflix price hikes overnight. My bet is they'll back down, but we all have to be willing to voice our beef and let subscriptions lapse.
I don't think they're going to back down. They really are that stupid now. I mean they hiked the price of their console and they're in dead last place. They have zero interest in their future. They're just trying to squeeze out as much money out of you as they can get now.

PC is the wild west dealing with hackers, cheaters and viruses.

Pay for every game individually.

Not to mention upgrading parts every few years to keep up.

You end up paying more, but I guess you get the feeling of pride and accomplishment putting your own box together
Spoken like someone who has no idea how pc gaming works...As someone who grew up playing on consoles and know about PC's, I have no loyalty or bias to either but you are just saying the same old uninformed BS non PC gamers have been saying for years.

"Pay for every game individually" - There are deals/bundles you can buy. Even if you buy games individually, isn't that what you do as a console gamer anyway? Also, not that I'm condoning this- but sometimes you can get new big budget games on the PC for "free." You can't do this on consoles.

"Upgrading parts every few years to keep up" - No one has to do that, it's a choice. If you buy a decent PC today, it'll play all games that come out in the next 10+ years. You may not be able to play the future games at the highest settings but a console wouldn't be able to either. Matter of fact, once a console gets upgraded to the next gen, eventually the newer games will no longer work. With a PC, it'd still work - again, just not at the highest settings.

"You end up paying more" - While you might have to pay a little more upfront in buying a good PC vs console. On PC, online gaming is free. You don't have to pay for Gamepass, Nintendo Online, or PS+ so you end up saving a bunch of money. PC also has a million other purposes and things you can do that you can't do with a console.

I couldn't care less how anyone prefers to play videogames but you're spewing bs.
