Are there types of zinc that can't make you sick? Slow absorption? I threw up due to zinc poisoning a few weeks ago. I took it with food, but I took it during the start of my meal.

nah just take less but real talk u gave urself zinc toxcity aka poisoning there. more likely than not ur not deficient in zinc therefore u should not take it. get bloodwork done and consult with a professional before u add supplements. take as few supplements as possible.

Zinc Gluconate can cause nausea/vomiting when it dissolves and the localized high concentration of zinc irritates the stomach/intestinal lining so it should really be taken after a meal, not before. You can also just take a multivitamin. I take the Costco Kirkland Multi after a meal which already contains 11mg zinc and is all you really need. An additional Calcium/vitamin D supplement isn't a bad idea depending on your diet.

Oral zinc lozenges are typically recommended over tablets for treating a cold because they dissolve in the mouth and throat, allowing the zinc to come into direct contact with the rhinovirus. I don't recommend taking these for cold.
