I have a philosphy - if a product can maim you, kill you, burn down your house if it malfunctions, I will buy from a reputable company with years of track record even if it costs more. So I dont buy power tools, chargers, Li batteries, cars, etc from no name companies. Its not worth it to me. That said, I have a Ryobi hand chainsaw and find it exceedingly useful around the yard. I also have a chainsaw on a pole from Ryobi for out of reach stuff. I havent found a reciprocating saw on a pole either. Just something to consider.
Agreed. I use chain saws regularly and this is not something to cheap out on.

In other news, never do your own wood chipping.
The electric company came and moved a power line because I was building an outbuilding and the line would be too close. It is weird if they trim the trees near power lines they clean up after themselves if you pay $1500 to have a pole and line moved they drop the trees and leave them where they lie. Anyways to make a long post longer I used my large chainsaw to chop up the main trunk tree into manageable pieces but before that I used this exact same mini chainsaw to remove every branch and cut them up and it worked amazingly on 2 full size pine trees. I then use it to trim a bunch of small trees and bushes around the property. Much easier and safer operating one of these mini chainsaws than my full size chainsaw plus with the mini I only wear chainsaw gloves and I don't feel the need to fully gear up with chaps, Kevlar vest and helmet ETC . Just chainsaw gloves and safety glasses and I felt I was safe enough.

These take oil..... oops mine worked fine cutting down an entire tree without oil!
Oiling them helps them to operate more efficiently and prevent overheating, but it's not usually a huge deal unless you're really pushing them to the limit with constant heavy work. I actually had an old full-size electric chainsaw that had a bunch of little issues that cropped up after years of use (loose chain, half-stripped tightener, etc). The oiler stopped working and I was ready to buy a new saw anyway, so I figured I'd just use it 'til it died without any oil as kind of an excuse to get a new one. I used the thing for another three years and even cut down entire trees without ever giving it a drop of oil and it still kept going. And it still worked just fine the whole time. Obviously, I'm not recommending that, but it shouldn't be a big deal as long as you get back to oiling it occasionally at least.
My 20 inch chainsaw takes oil so i looked for a spot on this one and couldn't find one so figured it was maybe low enough speed to not really need it. The chain had a coating on it when I took it out of the case so that was probably enough to get by.

Yeah, this one doesn't have an oiling mechanism, which is why some prefer the Tietoc model, where the oil is always a push away. It doesn't really need constant oiling, but it's definitely a good idea to drip some around the chain in a few spots before and after each use (and maybe even in the middle of long cutting sessions. It includes a little oil bottle that you can fill and use for easy application.

i saw the bottle and looked for an oil fill hole didn't see any and commenced to sawing for $20 it's ok if it lasts a season I kinda expected the motor to be burned up the amount of work it has done so far is impressive!

This deal seems better than the $18 green one floating around. Few dollars more you get a case and extra battery. Worth it?

I was just wondering if this deal was better than the Tietoc and I guess you answered that this doesn't auto oil via pump but may not always needed? Couldn't I just manually lube up with oil? Few bux more and this includes a case and extra battery.

I have this and the Tietoc. I tried the tietoc for a few 1" to 2" branches and the chain went dull quick. Yes it was oiled.
Do you prefer this one or the Tietoc? I thought the Tietoc was fine other than chain getting loose. This one comes with case and extra battery which is nice.

I am returning both. The tietoc was working at first then it stopped cutting. I thought the chain went dull. I swapped the chain and it still wasn't cutting. I pumped the oil too. Looks like it stopped working or the chains really suck.

Yeah, exactly. Some people like having the oiler, but I'm fine with just dripping a little oil on it now and then. It shouldn't really be an issue at all for my light use. Also note that "chainsaw bar oil" isn't necessary (motor oil or vegetable oil, etc will work) but bar oil has tackifiers which help it stick to the chain and last longer, so it's probably a better option for these saws that won't be getting oil as frequently. I already have some from other saws, so that's what I use.

Thanks.

Have lots of pruning to do, my reciprocating SKIL POS went up in smoke and the only other thing I have is the big Oregon 1500 which I REALLY hate using (so freaking big)..
I already bought this last time and just bought this again, this saw is great!!! Try to get a large manual pruner for this price! Hit it with chain oil before and after use, ive used it a ton and no issues. I'm still using original chain
