After using these type of retractables for a long time, my conclusion is that there is only one place I would recommend these for - where you need an exact length and once you set you arent going to change the length. Otherwise, they all break after a few months of retraction and extension.

Disagree after having used retractable cables for many years... Build quality of retractor as well as cable have gotten better and I haven't had any break in a long time. If you always retract it from both ends at the same time if should last.

this is the older model which i still own from nov 2023. works fine. Its not something i retract daily tho. I have fixed length cables for my desk setups, but this is great for your sling or backpack.

I also must disagree; out of probably over a dozen various brands from all sorts of places (from brickenmortar Daiso stores to random Chinese brands) it would be generous to say I've had more than 1 straight-up failure as far as the retracting mechanism goes, and some I've used really heavily (e.g., in portable Raspberry Pi/Flipper Zero kits but also as general-use).

Personally I rarely leave them extended because it bothers me. I will say I expect others to fail sooner than others—build quality definitely matters. I've never used these Baseus cables and I won't buy this simply because the chassis for this seems much larger than it needs to be; I currently use several 100W USB-C retractables from a random Chinese company (MINLU?), they're 4ft. long but the actual shell is only 1¾" in diameter (4.5cm if you're a fukken COMMIE). These look pretty thicc by comparison.

Ah thanks for pointing out it's either the promo code or the combined deal with the other 100w cable. I decided to go with the latter because I could use it, but that was helpful!
