There was a recent BYOD iPhone deal with Visible+ Pro annual plan giving 12 months of service for $225, and people were getting discounts and cash back deals that brought the cost of the annual plan to under $150 at times IIRC, which kind of makes this deal feel a bit less slick.
Last December, I actually needed/wanted a second phone for work, to keep my apps separate, at a time that coincided with Visible's $395 Visible+ annual plan with free iPhone 13. I didn't realize how helpful to my workflow it was to have a separate phone number and phone itself for the work apps for when my job gets busy. Great deal. I'm still on the annual plan from last December. I have no regrets. It worked for my use case.

So, those who need just the phone can skip this deal and not complain about the obvious. If you are interested in Visible service and ready for an annual plan, get a three year old phone for free. Give it to Apple Store and they give you around $200 gift card if you don't need the phone and just use the service.

Last December, I actually needed/wanted a second phone for work, to keep my apps separate, at a time that coincided with Visible's $395 Visible+ annual plan with free iPhone 13. but last time I checked they only had purple and red on the 14
I did the iPhone 13 deal when it was free - I am sitting with 2 unlocked iPhones for $165 each, not to mention the credit card CB and C1 very high rewards back (which you can do with Visible too)

If you care about keeping the phone number, my thought is that since the currently active deal is for new customers, you may have to get the annual plan with free iPhone 14 using a new email address, and with the plan get a new phone number. You might have to port out your current phone number you are using on your iPhone 13 to another carrier, then back in on top of the new Visible account. I don't know the best companies to port. I think some people say Tello but I don't know if Tello has a minimum number of days they hold your number until they release it for porting, or if that minimum number of days requirements is only for newly issued phone numbers.
