Electrical engineer here. The temperature (energy) required to cause these to explode is considerably higher than these get. The temperature to cause damage is actually pretty close to what a lot of these electric handwarmers advertise to achieve though. This is why they usually only advertise a maximum temperature of around 130F, this gives a sufficient safety factor. Good designs will have layers of protection to prevent any thermal run away situations. Up to you to decide if $8 mass produced Chinese electronics meet that criteria.

I'm a mail carrier and our mail trucks effectively don't have heat so I've become pretty familiar with products like this that can help get me through a route...these can be quite handy when you really need em.

People that work in manufacturing or shipping/recieving use both daily. For instance, the people bringing every single post on SD to your door.
Guessing pretty popular with folks going to Disney World, too.

It's the year of the Hand Warmers.
These devices are built to warm your hands and someone else's pockets.

Winter is coming ... which must explain the sharp uptick in staff hand warmer posts.
They're a vital necessity as far as I'm concerned, I'm cold all the time 😭

Those things used to go for $50 - $100 at Costcos. They're one of the best things you can do for your gums and teeth. I use mine daily and take it everywhere I go. It stopped my gingivitis and a host of other issues when my gums would regularly bleed. Don't knock it.
Hey I was wondering, what brand of water flosser did you buy? You have me convinced. I have issues with gingivitis and bleeding gums. Would you mind sharing a link of the water flosser you recommend best? Thank you.

No particular brand and lots of generics which work the same that can be found on Amazon. I have the stationary and handheld one bc I travel with some regularity. The standalone holds more water so you don't have to refill daily like the handheld but it's a minor inconvenience.Just make sure to start off on the lowest setting and let your gums adjust accordingly. It's not a direct replacement for real flossing but it's a very close 2nd. It's crazy how much stuff gets stuck in between teeth.

I swear I have never seen these before on SD and now there is one on front page every other day.
Like the ad nauseum handheld fans and neck fans over this summer. I got gifted hand warmers last winter and I loved them but their battery life seemed to go after a few uses

Purchased these and the package I got was opened and one of the hand warmers would not power on.

I've always wondered if having lipoly batteries next to heat sources was not an incredibly bad idea since they are the most explody version of lithium batteries

I realized that the $15 slim MagSafe battery that heats up while charging is a better warmer lol
