I use a standard cafeteria tray. They're often about $4 on Amazon. They have a deeper lip too. And dishwasher safe!

This is a truly great deal for perhaps the best pet feeding mat out there. Nonslip, insanely easy to clean, has a lip to catch stray crumbs/water, not too thick. Love it.
