XR stands for extended runtime. It was used to brand brushless tools and high-capacity battery packs. This battery (DCB205) used to have that branding. However, last year DeWalt reassigned the batteries with that branding to only include POWERSTACK (lithium ion pouches) and POWERPACK (tabless 21700 packs). Basically for batteries, XR now indicates high power to size ratio, regardless of the capacity.

With regard to the DCB205, those branded XR were manufactured in early 2024 or earlier and those without the XR branding are newer than that. The internal cells and circuitry are identical.

Camel has it at $199 for a long time but I checked Amazon and it's $146 so it looks like Amazon just lowered the price to get closer to this deal. $99 rocks but $8.74 shipping... Still good.

Might want to look at the two 8 amp-hour batteries deal with 3 tools and a 12 amp charger for $450. Not sure why it isn't getting much interest.

The batteries and charger are great, but the tool selection is pretty meh. If you're in the Dewalt line you probably have several already. Adding a newer/higher-end tool or 3 (like the hydraulic impact) to the top package would have generated a lot more interest.

Just got an aftermarket 5ah for nearly $50 or I'd be all over this.
