I bought the power owl ones. They have vastly lower capacity than a $1 nimh. To confuse things they use mwh not mah so you think whoa that's pretty good until you realize it has worse capacity than a nicad from 1980. I ended up getting my money back even the lowest of the low capacity wasn't met, I assume these are similarly disappointing. And I was charging and testing on a fancy xtar.

The milliamp-hour (mAh) rating of a 1.5 V cell will appear lower than that of a 1.2 V cell, but this does not indicate a lower total energy capacity. The correct metric for quantifying the energy content of a battery is the watt-hour (Wh), not the amp-hour (Ah). The amp-hour value represents only the charge capacity and does not incorporate voltage, making it insufficient for comparing batteries that operate at different nominal voltages.

Example:

Battery Type Nominal Voltage Capacity (mAh) Energy (mWh)
NiMH 1.2 V 2000 mAh 2400 mWh
Lithium 1.5 V 2000 mAh 3000 mWh
Lithium 1.5 V 1600 mAh 2400 mWh

From these values, it is evident that a 2000 mAh lithium cell stores more total energy than a 2000 mAh NiMH cell. A 1600 mAh lithium cell provides approximately the same energy as a 2000 mAh NiMH cell.

I ordered both to test myself and will return one or both depending how well they work. Will come back to update once I receive them tomorrow.

Price looks good.. does anyone have experience with these if these batteries are any good? Most of the reviews on amazon are of free product

These look to be a similar priced product with some more reviews if you'd like to give those a read as well:

I unfortunately cannot offer a recommendation as I have never used rechargeable lithium AA's (just ordered these) but am just posting the least expensive options I came across and will return if I am unsatisfied. Best of luck!

All rechargeable lithium AA/AAA batteries are rated in mWh due to having a fixed voltage output (3.7v lithium buck converted to 1.5v constant).

Which fancy xstar did you use? I know you can discharge these with one but how did you charge them without getting a low voltage error on the charger since it is looking for voltages over 3v (standard lithium cells)?

Edit: Found the Xstar charger. Didnt know it exsisted and functionality is really nice. Thanks for mentioning it!

If they can label it in mwh, they can label it in mah.

Of course they can but theres a reason why all rechargeable lithiums cells arent rated in mAh and all NiMh aren't rated in mWh.

The mAh of the 3.7v cell would be misleading as it's being regulated to a fixed 1.5v. Wh is actually a more accurate measure of its stored energy.

Conversly, NiMH AA/AAA cells have an unregulated nominal voltage of 1.2V and their voltage drops during use, so mAh is a more practical unit for expressing their capacity without the complications of a changing voltage.

Just received this Miady one. I obviously cannot speak to the capacity of the cells yet but can confirm that these come with a usb-c to usb-c cable and the charger is usb-c PD compatible which is what I was looking for. Quality looks and feels good. Have them charging now and will report back after doing some discharge capacity tests.

I haven't bought this particular one but I've tried out Coast lithiums, and two other brands on Amazon. They work OK but the problems are that they don't charge in your normal charger which is fine at first until you're like me and now you have 3 different brands with several different charge methods. The real problem is that since they're voltage controlled you don't see their deaths coming and it just surprises you. Obviously the advantage is that they stay high in voltage. But they actually don't last as long as an eneloop and I think they self-discharge faster. These are 2500mWh / 1.5 = 1666mAh compared to 2000mAh eneloops

The most disliked aspect of lithium AA batteries is that, unlike other AA batteries, these batteries' voltage drops instantly from 1.5V to 0V when out of juice.

The 2000mAh rating is at 1.2v on the eneloops which equates to 2400mWh so they'd actually have slightly less energy based on pure numbers assuming the specs are accurate. Am in the process of a discharge test now so will update by the morning.

This is true but some of the more expensive options, like the xstar's, drop to 1.2v for period of time before they cut off to help with that problem. Hopefully cheaper options offer that as well in the future.

Will these work with blink cameras and doorbell?
