Metro has the Motorola Razr 2024 back in stock online, for free when you get a new number or port in on their $65/month plan.

Metro's unlock policy is 365 days from activation.
Some users have mentioned you just have to activate it and can cancel the service and wait 11 months. Then when 365 days comes around make sure the device is on WIFI to have it unlocked.
Calling customer service after 365 may work as well, they can see when the device was first activated/purchased, and will tell you the month it will be eligible for unlock.

So if you are not in a rush for an unlocked phone, want to switch it to your current Metro PCS plan as a new phone after the 1 month, or want to try out the flip style phone, this might be a great deal for you.

Usually you just don't pay for the service after the 1st month and the plan cancels itself, just ensure autopay is not turned on.

I bought a second Razr for $35 but I cannot activate the second line since I don't know the new phone number. I don't remember how I got the phone number from the first line.

In addition, the Metro app on my first phone kept crushing as long as it's logged in. Is anyone having the same issue?

The Metro Razr is activated using its eSIM. I activated mine yesterday. Turn it on and connect it to Wi-Fi so the eSIM will be pushed to the phone. Then look up your order status using order number, last name, zip code. Click on Activate if your phone is shown as Delivered.

You can, but:

  • if the phone is the ONLY device in the account, you won't be able to log into the account because you can't receive a security code that metro texts to the phone whenever you want to log in. Right now I can't think of a reason that you need to log in besides ordering another phone in the same account to get a 2nd line discount ($35 vs $65).
  • I don't know if Metro requires the phone to have some actual activities (call, text, or data) before unlocking it. I sure don't want to wait a year with the phone kept in a sealed box then find out it's not unlocked. In addition, with an iPhone, you can check its unlock status using IMEICheck.com , but with an Android phone you have to open the box and connect the phone to WiFi to check its Unlock Status in the phone's Settings. Are you comfortable with selling the Razr as unlocked, in sealed box, without knowing for sure that it's unlocked?

Now I don't know if this qualifies for starting the unlock period. You might still need to have the phone connect to the network and get e-sim.

So i got mine and it has android 14, November 2024 security update build u3ucs34.63-88-21. Is there way to get it unlocked via 3rd party service?
