I do agree that it's easier to have a really, really nice home theater experience today than years ago though. 50"+ screens and great audio is not terribly expensive. But some blockbusters are still better as a shared experience in a theater.

Different people value different things I guess. I am drawn in by a 30 seat theater, not repelled. Why would I want to sit in the older style that sat 200 people, elbow to elbow, no assigned seating, people getting up throughout the theater and chitchatting during the movie? Fewer people with more spaced out seating is a positive IMO.
