I own this and can confirm the AC Adapter is bulky and heavy. I also own the 100W version which I prefer traveling with. Only reason I bought this one (in OP) is because my portable battery (Anker 737 Power Bank) can charge at 140W.

Not for travel means it's bulky, the adapter seems big

Incredibly expensive for what it is but because of the split design (huge external power adapter), it's one of the few 140w EPR units that doesn't thermal throttle over sustained load at 140w.

You can get a regular power strip and the apple 140w (which also doesn't throttle and is better overall) for cheaper though.

From the webpage [anker.com]:

This charging station has a 300J surge protection.

A thorough tear-down of the device can be found here:

https://www.chargerlab.com/teardo...2-adapter/

According to the teardown images, it uses SET SFV14D471K Metal Oxide Varistor.
Checking the specification sheet [setfuse.com] for this component, Maximum Clamping Voltage is 775V.

Definitely not for travel. Its good for business travel if you plan on setting up the unit at a single location to charge all of your equipment, laptops, etc.

If you're always on the go, this unit is not it.

I own the 140W version and do business travel. It is not small but it replaces the need for multiple chargers, so I consider this to be more portable given how much space and wires it saves!

just my $0.02... anything that sends wiring out in 5 directions tends to mandate being placed in the middle of a work surface and looks like a sloppy clump of cables
