To calibrate a Ryobi inflator, hold the + and - buttons at the same time while the inflator is off and not connected to a tire until the display shows all zeros, or for some models, hold the Power and Start buttons for a few seconds to "tare" the pressure. This process resets the zero point of the gauge and is especially useful if the inflator is showing a pressure reading while not in use. Little trick for this unit

The only problem I have with that one is it loves to jump-scare because the trigger is super sensitive. You look at it wrong and it kicks on and barks for a second.

It let's you do 1 psi normally or a long hold for 5 psi steps. I have one from last year and just bought another, super handy and works great.

Ya, that's the one I have. It reads about 2 psi higher when pumping. just have to account for it. I put a zip tie at the handle so it can be hand free. I paid like $25 for mine and it's been good to me for years. I am thinking about this as a back up.

Hose does get hot quickly.
Speed seems from 10-37psi in 2-3 mins?
I topped off 2 cars from ~ 25 to 37psi and it may have taken 1 bar (no more than 2 for sure) from a 4ah.
I'm sure this has an overheat protection but I'd probably give it a break after 2 tires if it went from 0.

I'd buy again but already have this and the inflate/deflate one.

This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. Great for tires and small inflatables w/ automatic stop.

For those complaining that they don't have any Ryobi equipment/batteries, you can buy a cheap adapter on Amazon [amazon.com] to make your existing batteries (Makita in my case) compatible.

I don't like to buy inflators that doesn't have a brass chuck.
I own two ryobi's inflators and a Milwaukee M12. The Milwaukee hands down is the best.

These make great gifts. I'm getting my dad one for Christmas to replace the manual version he has now.
Setting these to a pressure and letting it run is way easier and worth the upgrade over the old style with a trigger.
And most of the time you can sell the old one for a few bucks on Marketplace.

I have this one with one of the larger batteries (don't know size). It was able to pump about 4psi in 4 cars and still have half a charge. Hose was warm but worked well. I always add 2PSI as I think it under reads the pressure.

Keep in mind that there are 3 types of inflators:

1. high pressure/low volume (this one) - for tires and sportsballs. Some (not this one) also can act as a small surface cleaner, such as to blow sawdust off your workbench
2. low pressure/high volume - for inflatable toys and mattresses
3. dual function - does the function of both above + acts as a small surface cleaner

See attached image for clarity. If you want dual function, Home Depot has that one on sale as well for $39.97 (originally $69.97)

It really depends on the size of the tire. I have this model as well as the less expensive gun type and this is so much better. You can set the pressure amount, hook it up, set it on the ground, and just press the button and it will auto shut off when it reaches the set pressure. Mine is short by 3 pounds, but it is consistent, so I just set it for three pounds higher then specified. However, mine is quite noisy so I do not use it early in the morning or late at night. In regards to the battery endurance, I have very low profile tires on My Miata and a 4ah could add 10 pds to about 8 tires of this size. I also have large high profile tires on my full size SUV and I would be lucky to add 10pds to just 2 tires with the 4ah battery. But I have 6ah and 8ah batteries just to address the high energy needs of this and my garden tools.

I was able to fill up my car tires (about 10lbs) in under 10 minutes, and it didn't even use 20% of the battery. Much faster than my other inflator that goes into the car's 12V which took 20 to 30 minutes.
