I have this set and it's never let me down. I've done 2 bathroom remodels, living room drywall, and 700 SQ ft of hardwood installed. Unless you do this for a living, these tools are all you need.

And later this 9 tool one that I didn't look deep into: https://slickdeals.net/f/18504853-9-tool-milwaukee-m18-18v-lithium-ion-cordless-combo-kit-w-2-batteries-charger-tool-bag-599-free-shipping
I was curious to look into this a bit and found a previous fp post with a 5-tool M18 for $299 shipped here:
https://slickdeals.net/f/18740494-milwaukee-m18-18v-lithium-ion-cordless-oscillating-multi-tool-kit-w-1-5-ah-battery-charger-99-free-shipping
Which includes:
M18 Cordless 1/2" Drill/Driver (2606-20)
M18 1/4" Hex Impact Driver (2656-20)
M18 Cordless 6-1/2" Circular Saw (2630-20)
Hackzall Reciprocating Saw (2625-20)
M18 Cordless LED Work Light (2735-20)
3Ah & 1.5Ah M18 REDLITHIUM Batteries
M18 and M12 Multi-voltage Charger (48-59-1812)
Belt Hook
6 1/2" 24T Carbide-Tipped Blade
General Purpose SAWZALL Blade
Rip Fence, Blade Wrench, Contractor Bag
So the larger bundle has missing these two tools:
* 1x M18 Brushless 4-1/2" Grinder (2686-20)
** I found a single post @ $83 https://slickdeals.net/f/18528886-milwaukee-brushless-2686-20-18v-cordless-4-5-5-grinder-w-paddle-switch-tool-only-83-fs-for-prime-woot
*1x M18 Multi Tool (2626-20)
** Several posts out there but $99 shipped here: https://slickdeals.net/f/17678874-milwaukee-m18-18v-lithium-ion-cordless-multi-tool-w-2-0-ah-compact-battery-99-free-shipping
Generally tho the bundles do seem like a decent deal but not really 'more value with the bigger one' considering what looks to be a pretty consistent per tool price of ~$99 plus or minus a bit. If someone needed this now, it seems in line with 'this is about as good as it gets,' but patience could probably net more batteries/charges overall which feels really useful. If I were to bit, I would probably do the 5 or 7 tool combo and fill in the gaps as/if I needed them from single tool deals so I could have more batteries and chargers. To me, the 9 tool bundle seems like the worst value overall considering this.
* Also worth noting:
**The batteries are different with 1x 3Ah & 1x 1.5Ah M18 REDLITHIUM Batteries on the 7piece & the 5piece has 2x M18 REDLITHIUM XC3.0 Battery Packs (48-11-1828) instead so that is worth looking into.
** There are misc 'bonus item' things (like the bag, belt hook, etc) that I didn't bother to consider because they don't matter too much to me.
I don't have the cash for this now but at some point I need to ditch my crumby black and decker stuff and upgrade. I did get all that stuff really, really cheap or free though so there is that

I have a TON of drills, brushed and brushless. I use them plenty, just not as a day job. Agree you don't HAVE to go brushless.
BUT...
For me, it's M18 Fuel or bust with Milwaukee only b/c I have felt the power of the M18 Fuel and it blows away all of my other 18, 19.6, and 20v drills. It has come in handy for me. Probably not necessary for everyone, though.
Best example is driving 1" holes for cables/electric into headers, joists, etc., especially when you go double-wide. The M18 fuel drill is the only one that can push through for me.
Other drills I have are ryobi 18 brushless drill and impact, craftsman 19.6 drill, craftsman 20v bolt-on drill, craftsman 19.6, impact, etc.
Just want folks to know that Milwaukee is a quality product, but if you had to do something crazy like drive large holes through certain framing, you may need more power.
