Forum Thread

basic keyword search now broken/untrustworthy

574 1,752 October 28, 2025 at 09:38 AM
see attached screenshot, but with the exact same filters in place (most notably, without "hide expired" toggled), and whether logged in or not...
  • searching for "dreamegg" shows 4 results matching that company -- none of which were the frontpage deal I bought back in September
  • searching for "hx-r30" (the model number of that fp deal) DOES show two results

what gives? searching for a unique company name should be an ultrabasic functionality and immediately makes me assume the internal search is useless and I'll have to google "thing+slickdeals" from now on.

(I saw some other threads in this subforum but nothing matching this kind of egregious fail but please correct me if I'm wrong)

Thanks for the feedback. Something definitely seems wonky. I sent this thread over to the search team so that they can look into this issue.

One thing you may want to try is to switch from searching the past 3 years (which is the default) to all time, because that does bring up those two missing threads.

This has been fixed, so searching in the past 3 years now shows those missing deals.
Thank you again.

Something has definitely happened to search very recently where results are all over the place. For example, if I search for "Elden Ring" with or without quotes I get tons of results with the word ring in it, the top result is a teething ring. Previously it would only show the game.

It looks like I can get more accurate results if I search for "Elden + Ring" so it's like the defualt is search for any word not all words.

Came here to post same thing, clearly not alone on this one

Typing "isopure" and "isolate" are not pulling up nearly enough results

For example this thread from late september

Some fixes have been released and a lot more are being worked on. Staff use the search a lot too for price research and to check for reposts so it's a big problem for everyone. Apparently search technology is more complicated than it seems, but hopefully soon it will just work. Feel free to start new threads in this forum if a search isn't working since it might be slightly different than other reported problems.
