For those who don't know, the FDA acceptable levels for insect parts in ground coffee is about 4-6%. Buy whole bean and ground yourself if you can.

If it's below 4%, will that batch get thrown out? I'd hate to be ripped off on potential protein content.
But in all seriousness, we are also talking post-roasting here. I'm really not worried about roasted ants in my coffee. There are better reasons to buy whole bean, like freshness.

You do know coffee beans carry borers, roach larva, and weevils, right? They get killed when the beans are roasted. Coffee companies market roasting as bringing out more aroma and taste (barely), but it's more for killing the little critters inside of the beans.

Verona is a blend of Italian and French roast coffees. I get these bags monthly on Amazon S&S and it's always great.

Probably the same. But it would be a lot easier to notice them just roasted and sitting in the beans v.s. ground up with them. If I was making coffee, I'd definitely make sure any batches with a lot of bugs got ground up and I'd probably have somebody pick out the bugs in whole bean coffee if there were a few

$7.87 with 15% S&S is a great price. This is the only Starbucks that I think is really good. Had to get it especially at this price. My local grocery store is about $21.
