Now, this type of coffee (Starbucks Verona) is really not bad, obviously can't compared to specialty / fresh roasted beans, but would be much better than Starbucks French roast offer, which is basically coffee ashes. This Verona is indeed "medium-dark" and yields a rather nice cup of espresso (just made a capcuccino for my wife this morning with this one), BUT I bought their whole-bean version, not the ground one, and grind right before I make my coffee to preserve the freshness as much as I could. Quite a good cup, indeed.

"Who Should Drink It: Dark-roast drinkers who don't have other options."
"Starbucks' limited edition wholebean coffees are often outstanding, but the quality-dampening demands of sheer volume appear to have taken its toll on main-menu blends like the Verona."
"In the cup sweet and pungent, but the charred cedar notes turn to charred board notes, expressionless and woody. A vague hint of fruit at the top of the profile. I hope the nominating reader tasted a better sample of the Verona than this one."
lmao at how subtle they made their absolute contempt for this cardboard-a$$ blend!
I watch the videos of the coffee nerds on YouTube and it takes them 30 minutes, using equipment that costs $5000, to make a single cup of espresso. I am not one of those people. I do like a cup of espresso on occasion but the basic cup of coffee made with pre ground beans is fine for me.

Not quite as fancy, but the best budget version grinder to have on hand for when whole beans go on sale, good to have.
