Wouldn't get this over the newer G502 X with the optical switches unless you like soldering.

Logitech sucks for what they did with this line.

They made fun of Razer for cheaping out on the switches when the original G502 came out and then cost-cut by switching out their omron switches in every subsequent generation. I've had 4 over the years and all but the original had switches that failed within a year or so, this has those.

I've had the newer G502 X model for a while now and it's fixed the double clicking issues since it moved to optical switches, but the downside is that they cheaped out on everything else while still raising the price of the mouse significantly. You lose most of the lighting that every other G502 model has had, the cable is much cheaper, etc. On the plus side, the scroll wheel feels a bit cheaper but is actually a normal scroll wheel vs the older G502 models with the clunky gear wheel.

I used the bar lights on the older G502 to track which DPI setting I was on, but newer X series just has a single light that changes color, so you'll have to remember the DPI colors instead of being able to check which number slot it was in like the older ones.

Aside from that, the cheaper cable hasn't really bothered me at all in use, so it's moot for me, but it might bother other people. You also lose adjustable weights but I never used them in my older G502 models and would actually remove the bottom door since it increased drag. The mouse is also significantly lighter, since the original G502s were pretty heavy.

Meh, great.mouse and great price. When it dies throw it out and buy another. I came from a crappy dethadder and love my hero. Been using it for several years with minimal issues.

I agree, I keep picking these up for $25 for a backup. They last about 2-3 years, but for $25 that's pretty good! Even if you have the best switches after 2-3 years the outside is worn, so it's nice to get the whole thing refreshed.

The 502 is a great mouse. This is coming from someone who has it and still have a legendary G5 mouse. Great warranty service as well.

Yep, the X wireless is especially light, the old one sticks around just to justify the fixed ones price.

idk, I don't mind soldering. That's kind of why I got a Pinecil V2.

But, either way, how long are we expecting PC gaming peripherals to last? Obviously 1 year is probably bare minimum, but are we thinking 5 years? 10 years?

Honestly not a fan of the mouse either. For the price? Sure. But cheap doesn't make it good. They've also been plagued with double clicking as well as their software has been buggy crap for a long time. Persistent profiles not saving or working, app not working period, and now I get a pop up that you CAN NOT REMOVE without editing system/app/reg edit files or w/e where it asks you to give Logitech access to your discord for some god awful reason. So with that, I'm out dawg. If you want a cheap wire mouse? Perfect! If you want a good wired mouse? This ain't it dawg.

I had a double clicky G502 years ago. They said they fixed the problem and went back to the Japanese clicker. My current G502 is 3 or 4 years old. Millions of clicks and no double clicking issues.

It's probably time for a new one. $25 is a great price and anything under $30 is a very good buy.

I have this and have big hands with more of a palm grip. It works, but my pinky ends up getting hot and bothered when I play. I ended up getting a glorious i2 and it solved the problem.

I've had this one for a year or two (can't remember when I got it) and love it. I put all the weights in it and it feels nice and solid. Will pick up another as a backup since some of the comments here suggest I'll start having issues with it eventually? It's been great so far. Zero issues.
