Deal because the 14700F easily out-performs most any CPU being offered on comparably configured systems in this price range currently (within ~$100 of $1K) e.g. 14400, Ryzen 7600, 7700, 8700F. On-par with Ryzen 7800X3D.

The one with Ultra 7 265? Very close call performance wise! I personally would opt for the Ultra 7 265 deal because it is newer gen, slightly lower power consumption, comes with 'free' integrated graphics, whereas the 14700F has no processor graphics. Intel's Quick Sync is very good for transcoding/encoding, could be used instead of the NVIDIA graphics or if the GPU should go kaput you can still have use of your PC while waiting for a replacement. The extra 1TB SSD capacity is bonus.

Not sure about the extent but wether you want to roll the dice its up to you but I would avoid even if they said they patched it....

I guess its a good thing they changed cpu naming after the bad rep.
