I picked up one of these last night, but not sure if I want to keep it.

I found a Lenova 16" Yoga Flip that is $200 less (even cheaper as open box-excellent). Only 16GB and 1TB, but I think 32GB is overkill anyway (for the time being) and I could always upgrade the SSD later if I need.

Is it worth paying $300+ extra for the OLED screen and a marginally faster CPU?
For 300 more, OLED 3K + 16GB + 1TB worth it. OLED screen is must have nowadays, it is day and night differences to the LEDs. No mention there are 30% cash back from somewhere which makes it $700+tax.

I get what you're saying, but I don't want to pay for features I don't need. The laptop will be hooked up to a monitor 90+ percent of the time, so the OLED is somewhat wasted. I have a 2TB drive in my desktop and I've only used a quarter of it.

The main difference is the extra RAM, but it's not clear how important that will be for my limited use cases (no gaming or SW development. Probably no video editing. Maybe some very light CAD).

I also like that the Lenovo has a 10-key pad and a fingerprint sensor. Also has a micro-SD reader which is a nice-to-have for storing media.

Could be worse...at least I know a 288V is probably better than a 256V, unlike Dell where I haven't a clue if a Dell Pro Plus Premium Tower is better than a Dell Pro Max Micro desktop!
Funnily enough, the 258V is often as fast or even faster than the 288V once you factor in throttling.

Can anyone find a zoomed in view of the screen? An actual photo that shows the subpixel layout.
Many OLEDs have subpixel layouts that aren't compatible with font rendering, leading to color fringing and loss of text clarity. Some people can't notice this difference, others can notice. I'm one of those that can notice and it seriously hurts my eyes.
I can't find a single detailed review of this laptop, nor can I find any detailed specs on OLED panel itself.
I ordered one... I will say that the screen door / graininess effect on white backgrounds is SUPER noticeable, and after doing some Googling it looks like that's partly because of the digitizer layer since it's a touchscreen. It's bugging me, but the text clarity itself seems really good compared to many OLEDs I've used, including other HPs. The build quality feels amazing, and the screen itself, other than this white bg issue, is BLOWING MY MIND even next to my 120Hz Dell 4k panels that are right next to it. Tough call. The price is insane for what you get here, and the CPU is instant on everything I've done so far

This all said in the context of a heavy software engineering workload, this laptop would probably be an amazing fit for a lot of folks:

Bummed but I'm returning mine. The laptop overall is great but I'm sensing some very minimal but palpable-to-me latency when using the built-in keyboard, the HDMI port doesn't appear to be able to do > 60Hz @ 4k ( BestBuy page says it's 2.1 so not sure wtf ), and the overall CPU speed just feels limiting and frictional compared to the last real mobile chip I worked on ( 285H ) that it's not going to work out for me. The mura effect on the screen, at least on my particular unit, was very pronounced, but honestly the screen was so good and the text clarity was solid enough in most scenarios that I could've lived w/ that, because the colors, vibrance, picture quality per se is otherwise sensational. But yeah, it's going back. Gorgeous laptop though

I ordered a del xps 13 32gb 1tb with core ultra 7 258v 2.2ghz (series 2), FHD+, open box for $880, pending pickup at microcenter- is this omnibook better than the xps in terms of durability, performance or should I wait for better deals in the month?
Honestly the omnibook here checks all the bells and whistles - Any feedback is appreciated.

I'd gladly buy 258v even 228v as long as it has 32gb ram. These are same processors

13in is really small.
I'd also add that these new HPs are quite good at cooling and barely run fans with these new v line processors.
Xps is supposedly a better/more premium line but buying an open box just increases your chances to get a lemon in short term or down the road. So your pick.

I have the 14" Omnibook Ultra Flip, which is more directly comparable to the XPS 13 than this model, and I can say that the HP is the better of the two. I've had Dell laptops since 2000 with the last three being XPS 13 (i5, i7, and Snapdragon, in that order). The XPS used to be great, but the price and the constant fan noise (even on the Snapdragon) led me to try HP. Over the last ~six months, the quality has been great, and the fan rarely runs. While I don't use it in tablet mode often, it's nice to have, and the OLED screen is great. Considering the last XPS I had was over $2K vs $1.3K for the Ultra Flip (on sale), it's a no-brainer.

Since the X Flip is a step down from the Ultra Flip and less directly comparable to the XPS 13 in terms of fit an finish, it would be good to go to a Best Buy and try it out first. I don't think that the X Flip has a capacitive touchpad, for example, and I couldn't live without one at this point.
