Strikes me as a much better deal, no? 2x48GB, PC6000, CL36, DDR5 -- just $330, or $30 less $$. Takes up only 2 slots, same amount of RAM, less money. Typical 5% off with Amazon Visa, 5% off with Student Discount (if you quality, signed up, etc.). Fast delivery....
These are 7000mhz those are 6000mhz. Also no rgb.

The "good deal" is literally double what I paid for a 2-dimm 96gb kit not 6 months ago... No thanks...

hope this isn't going to copy the GPU price playbook but I kind of know they are

If you had a buddy and split it I think it'd be a good deal. I don't need that much RAM lol

DDR4 went out of production, DDR5 prices went up because of demand/production diverted to HBM, LPDDR5X, etc. for AI. Very bad timing for consumers.

Prices will drop eventually, especially if the AI bubble bursts.

Non binary RAM is gross, stick to base 2 like the gods intended.

As long as DRAM scaling remains slow, it's here to stay. We got the 64 GB DDR5 UDIMMs earlier this year. If we get a larger capacity DDR5 module, it's going to be 96 GB. Then it would be your only choice if you want the maximum amount possible.

DRAM capacity growth might speed up again once 3D DRAM hits the market, but that's debuting in the 2030s. It could be up to 10 years before it takes off.

IMO, AI bubble isn't going to burst, it's just going to be a new way of life we will have to adapt to, just like the industrial revolution in the past, and our ways of life will begin to evolve and learn around it. There is going to be over capacity once the dust settles, if the dust settles, and then that will be the new norm.

At the risk of sounding philosophical in a good deals thread. ;-)

If history [archive.ph] is any indication, high pricing won't last much more than 2-3 years.
