Spell it out for me, please.I am a huge multitasker.I can have 20-30 tabs open and 3-4 windows. I'm back in school and I do a lot of research. Will this work? Do I need different specs?

More for browsing the web, school projects for my kid, occasional video while traveling kind of thing.

Just trying to find something thats nice, cheap and will last for a few plus years and not be a total piece of crap

Not sure why almost all of the PC manufacturers are flooding with AMD Ryzen processors these days and I'm not familiar how good AMDs are.
Looking for a decent every day PC with good build quality that can last for at least 3 years of normal use for around $500+Tax.

I use a 1920x1200 16" screen on my Elitebook for work every day and never felt like I needed higher resolution. It's not amazing, but there aren't many better speced $450-$600 laptops out there with better than 1200p screens, barring maybe those Snapdragon laptops selling at deep discount because people get sick of ARM x86 emulation and just return them. Nice laptops if you understand their limitations.

That said, I wish the term, "2K" would be banished for these 1200p screens.

2k is (unofficially, because it's not an agreed upon industry standard) 1440p, not 1200p. The reason 1440p was declared 2K is because it was almost halfway to 4k. 1200p is nowhere near that.
1080p/FHD is 1920x1080 = 2,073,600 pixels
1200p is 1920x1200 = 2,304,000 pixels
1440p/2K is 2560x1440 = 3,686,400 pixels
2160p/4K is 3840x2160 = 8,294,400 pixels

If you watch the Just Josh YouTube channel, they say they like to have 150 pixel per inch minimum for a comfortable screen for everyday use. This is below that. It won't be terrible, but when using word and excel you will notice the pixels. Just depends how sensitive you are to that. Maybe try reducing the resolution on your gaming laptop to match and see if it bothers you at all.

It's because the Intel lunar lake processors are made by TSMC and not by Intel so they are more expensive. They have amazing battery life but at a premium. The amd chips are cheaper which is why all the mid to low range laptops are getting them.

They have been for over 5 years. Intel's foundry struggles are well documented. TSMC has been eating their lunch, and there are no signs that's going to change before 2028 when Intel's foundry is expected (speculation, unfortunately) to become profitable again.

Yeah it will be more than enough for every day use. Battery life is very good, practically all day without heavy tasks. I had no problem with the screen resolution but the brightness and color vividness leave a lot to be desired. You'd have to see if that's a trade off you can make.
