Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

so you get points to use to buy stuff later or convert points to cash and get a payout to your bank account?
Correct.

Don't be silly, if the original charge is pending, Paypal will probably hold the points as pending (instead of providing them instantly), but it's up to Paypal.....

Paypal will decide the appropriate time to hold the points in pending status before they release them. that's what they care about. No one ever said they don't care at all about anything. They don't care about the nonsense that you keep bringing up:

They don't wait to hear back from merchants to give the go-ahead on points.
They don't observe return windows based on the type of product you buy.

We are talking about this promo and the Paypal business, not their ongoing little cashback program that was only recently started and is probably hired out to someone to administer where you click on a retailer, shop with that retailer, wait forever to get your cash back....or not. Two different programs. This one is based on setting up Pay-4 and making the first payment. No one wants to take out a loan, pay it off completely and then still have to wait another month to get cash back for doing that.

When I set my Paypal debit card to 5% cash back for groceries, when I swipe my card at the grocery store, 5% of my purchase is deposited immediately....don't have to wait to ask the grocery store if it's ok or if I'll return some of my groceries; they certainly don't wait 30 days. It's not the same as that silly cashback program Paypal is operating where you clickthru the specific retailers. so that one is different because it's using my debit card.

Learn to understand the differences.
Now you're mixing in a totally unrelated thing (paypal debit card). If you return something on that, they deduct the points, so they can issue them right away just like every other rewards card. That's an entirely different system.

They do care about returns and preventing misuse/fraud. Maybe they're paying out smaller ones sooner than bigger ones on this offer. My transaction is not pending, it has been cleared/posted since tuesday, points are still pending.

The point is, no reason to panic people who are still seeing pending points. Fact of the matter is, the offer terms clearly say it can take up to 90 days for the points to be payable, and until they are payable, there is no guarantee they are going to be paid.

Sorry if this has been addressed (I scanned the last dozen or so pages searching) but does anyone know if using a browser plugin for cashback during checkout invalidate the Paypal 20% offer? I saved the offer a few days ago, and still see it in my PP rewards page, I also see my single purchase for ~$900 is processing cashback at the other website, and I selected Pay in 4 without any trouble when I checked out.
I've received a couple of emails from Paypal stating that they got my order, welcome to pay-in-four, and that the first payment has been processed, but none of them mention any points, and on my rewards page it still only says that there are 2 days left to use the offer, but no points pending. Did my CB plugin short-circuit this deal, or might the points still show up in time?
This will stack with cash back sites/plugins fine.

Points posted so far between two PP accounts (orders placed 11/19 but i am not sure when the points posted as I havent checked in a few days at least) - one order on one account was for $2000 and i got $250 back (even though the pending points were higher). The other order on the other account was for a gift certificate and the points (earned $172 for it) actually posted for that. I have a few more transactions that are still pending for the same PP account (exceeding $250 cumulatively) and am guessing I will get hard capped at $250 as well once everything goes through
Did you do pay in 4 for both? Or did you try doing pay monthly?

Pay monthly for the $2k purchase and i think the $860 one ($172 reward) as pay in 4 wasn't available - pay in 4 for all my other pending transactions

So pay monthly basically shows rewards in your PP account? Let me try paying monthly as PP is not giving me an option to pay in 4 due to unusual activity (not sure why).

I think its based on the date if the transactions - both those were on 11/19. All my other transactions (pay in 4) were on 11/21

I'd really like to know if this promotion is supposed to show up during the checkout process, or are you only notified after making the purchase?
It would be great if it showed up during checkout, but alas it does not. You only get the notification of pending points afterwards.

I just bought an appliance deal from home depot using this - I did not have pay later available but did have pay monthly, and was approved for it, so did the 6 months option w/ plan to pay it in full in a day or two when the points showed. The purchase shows in my paypal app activity section with a note of "points pending" and the transaction says "Authorization in progress".

If I click on the transaction there is a note: "this is a temporary authorization to make sure your payment method will cover the requested amount. Your payment method will be charged when your transaction is completed". Then under rewards it does show pending points (though no specific amount) and the 20% cashback on one pay laer purchase with paypal as "Pending".

What has me a bit concerned is "authorization in progress" and if that means its still waiting on the merchant (hd) to confirm. These appliance aren't scheduled for delivery until Dec 4th. Is it likely that home depot won't complete the transaction until the delay of delivery - which would likely be too late? Or am I still fine?

I just did this. Got treated as one entire purchase. Points already pending for the entire amount
I just did this now, and the points are only showing for one of the purchases. Plus, the amount itself is less than it should be. Did they count tax and shipping as well in the point total?

Isn't the pay in 4 limit $1500/purchase?
