Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

"unusual activity." may also be target than paypal. Retailers like target and walmart are very finicky about large GC purchase online. Sometime back i was trying to buy GC at walmart and only $100 and it was getting flagged and canceled unless i contact them and they will ask to resubmit same exact order without changing payment methods after 12 hours hours. Crazy amount of work to buy $100 GCs.
It's not. I called Paypal and it was them. They allegedly released the "unusual activity" but the PayIn4 is gone. Trying another store now, but really couldn't be more aggravated. I make a lot more $$ than the value of this "deal" for the time spent.
EDIT: CSR told me he cleared my account. Doesn't matter. Deal is gone. PayIn4 is not showing up for me on any store for any item. Total BS.

Data point: did 6 purchases. All were confirmed and show pending points with exception of one purchase, which was my third order several days ago. No rationale, no longer pending under rewards - just fell off. That purchase was for just over $190. Meanwhile 2 orders from last night all show pending point amounts.

Its not dead but whatever u get it better be picked up or egift code delivered before cut off Any order thats pending at end will not earn points which is useally most items for shipping. Safest bet is to order something returnable.

For anyone have withdrawals from not being able to get this amazing deal... if you have a Chase Freedom (or 2 or 3...) card, then you can find places that sell discounted GCs and pay with PayPal+Chase for an extra 5 UR points this month per dollar spent.

Chase btw does NOT allow their cards to be used with any "buy now, pay later" services, and that's why you couldn't combine it with this 20% deal... otherwise it would have made this deal even sweeter!

Did it trigger the offer when you paid property taxes?

Edit: Answering my own question here I went ahead bit the bullet and prepaid ~$1250 property tax (including service fees), ~250000 points immediately showed up as pending, used Pay in 4 or whatever its called. Paid using BofA CCR that is set to online purchase we'll see if this codes as online purchase. If it sticks, easy $200, if it doesn't will be out a few bucks and I'm ok with that!
Did Bank of America CCR code as online purchase for the 3%?

Well, plenty of places selling gift cards for 10 to 20% below value and which accept PayPal... GCX for example is selling Uber cards for 15% and you can combine that with the Chase PP 5%.

Sure but still not close to the mirage of this deal. You can get GCs for 5% off at Target everyday if you have a red card. Doesn't even cover sales tax.

so annoyed i missed out on this after TOO MANY hours of monitor research and finally making up my mind... only for the bnpl deal to be denied due to "suspicious activity" on my account??? Customer service can only come up with it being because i linked a new card (required for the bnpl) and/or because i have a buinsess account (something i did years ago and forgot about), even though i was able to claim the deal on said account.

I tried claiming the deal on other paypal accounts (family) and it doesn't seem to be offered despite 3.5hrs remaining... and it continuing through Dec. 31 at 5%.

No, it's not. I just placed an order with Best Buy for a $100 gift card with 2,000 points pending.

Is the 20% back in paypal rewards points calculated from the total with tax or the pretax total?

won't make you feel any better, but i'm in the exact same situation... after spending the better part of the past 2 days researching monitors. i even said the exact same line about the cost of time to someone a few minutes ago while ranting about this.
