Careful if you live in Wisconsin or Michigan - Republicans currently have bills crafted to ban VPNs.

Just gonna put this out there.. If you know windscribe you know they're a bit of a quirky company, last year they had their usual strange video on Nov 20th and usually on a wall in a scene or something is a special code where you can get a further discount. I managed it last year and now I'm on $19/yr for life. I think the discounts are first come first serve so you have to be quick, but if you can get it it's a pretty decent deal for a good vpn company.

Well, their ultimate goal is a nation porn ban ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0noIS9lmR0Y ), they are using state legislature like the bills in Texas, Wisconsin and Michigan as attack vectors. These people don't understand technology very well, but they know enough that VPNs are typically used to get around these bans, so that's why they are proposing a ham-fisted blanket ban on VPNs.

It remains to be seen if they know how critical VPNs are to many industries and how they would write the law knowing this information.. Hopefully these bills get shut down before they see the light of day, because this is going to be a massive headache for many people and businesses for what amounts to an ineffectual ban.

Do they allow torrents? Asking for a friend who has advised me that his (or her) uTorrent won't connect properly anymore. The log shows a wrong IP being listened on.
lol asking for a "friend".

I'm using Windscribe in America on my iPad and logged into a very remote US server. Shows VPN sign at the top of the iPad. I then open a fully closed app and hit allow location services while using the app. It still shows my exact true city on the app. Isn't this supposed to be telling the app I'm in that other city?
Location Services is a more precise location discovery system that's on device, and can be requested by apps and websites. It uses things like cellular, GPS and known WiFi locations to get better location data than IP alone.

If you deny the location services then it will fall back to the less reliable IP based location, which is what would show the other city. You told the app specifically "Use the full information from my device instead" which is why it shows your true location.

Try again and deny Location Service, then it will only show your IP location.

Anyone knows how this works if I already have pro until 2028?
Same question for me. My current sub runs out at the end of next year.

How does this compare to the Proton/Nord VPN deals?

Do those other VPN have better cash back via cb websites?

No longer "lifetime", only while Putin is still alive.

That is correct, you need to deny access to GPS and scan nearby devices. IP address is the last source most app check for location.

Very on-brand for the party constantly gaslighting about government overreach. Nothing says "freedom" like telling me what I can and can't access on the open internet.
