Company isn't the easiest to deal with if you need to warranty anything. They will eventually replace your item but it will take weeks and come from China.
SD price graph shows a constant $160 price, but camelcamelcamel shows the price has occasionally hit the listed $250 original price. Not as big a sale as you might think, but certainly better than the completely fake sale the SD price graph implies.
Just because they both are based on flash memory does not make them equal. SSDs generate much more heat and will fail prematurely if left in a hot car all the time. lol

A229 Pro vs Plus pros and cons besides price? Is the $60 more for Pro worth it? I'm assuming I'd need a bigger SD card for the Pro since it's 4K which would add more cost.
I have the a229 pro 3 ch. The 4k front camera is good. I can zoom in and see license plates. Also pretty clear at night

i have this. you're going to turn the impact feature to its lowest/off setting. The polarized lens was $10. The sticky adhesive is great but I had to replace it a year later from the sun. Hides behind the mirror well and comes with a long enough usb c cord to wrap around the trim. It does record speed and i haven't figured out how to turn that feature off.

Yeah it's crazy to me that, with how long dashcams have been a thing, so many of them are still hot garbage. My hunch is that the vast majority of us just want a black box that doesn't make sounds, talk to us, or do anything but record on a loop so we have evidence in case of a crash. That they can fail (and fail silently, in my experience) at this basic function is frustrating.
May need to pick this up. It's about that time to replace the old ones. Viofo is a solid brand of dashcam and I have used the previous dual camera systems for 5+ yrs in several cars. Got a 128GB microSD that over writes old vids.
Had the a229 installed for about a year. Really happy with it. Good quality and I like that I'm not forced into using an app. Just plug the sd into my computer and there is all the video.
This unit has severe overheating / shutdown issues in southern and hot climates. I had two of these that VIOFO refunded for.
Video quality is great. Buyer beware.
Which model? I got a mini 2 2 years ago and it had a white screen of death during the first year. I live in TX and it happened when it was 40F out so this wasn't a heat issue. They replaced it under warranty, got it in less than a week. I also had the A229 plus for over a year and it has been running great.

You're referencing the dual 4k model (which is dual 678's), I'm referencing the 4k+2.5k model (675 rear cam). But "V*NTRUEBF10" is the emailed coupon for 10% off on Amazon.
interesting, I paid $179 5 years ago. Not really dropping in price as much as I expected. There also seems to be no real Black Friday deal on the far superior A329S, which is the one I want.
