The PS5 Pro deal stands out as a strong way to cut the console price with Dell credits, Amex, cash back, and occasional PayPal Pay in 4 savings. The Pro is framed as the best upgrade for 4K setups that want smoother frame rates, extra storage, and a likely final hardware refresh before the next generation. The main cautions are the missing disc drive, possible need for a separate drive for physical games, and some discount stacks not always combining cleanly. Timing and stock also matter, since shipping estimates shifted and the bundle sold out and came back in stock.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes, PayPal Pay in 4 cashback has been used with this purchase, and it can beat the $100 Amex credit on a higher-priced checkout. The catch is that PayPal requires four interest-free installments and a soft credit check, so it adds credit and payment risk.

  • Yes, the $100 Amex statement credit can stack with Dell's sale price and other Dell-side discounts because Amex credits are based on the final dollars charged. The credit has posted in as little as 3 days, though it can take up to 90 days.

  • Not always. Using the Dell 10% sign-up coupon can void cash back site tracking under the site's terms, so the coupon and portal cashback may not stack cleanly.

  • The PS5 Pro uses an M.2 expansion slot, so you can move your existing 2TB SSD into the Pro's expansion slot and leave the original PS5's onboard storage alone. The original PS5's built-in drive is not the part you normally remove.

  • No, the PS5 Pro is sold without a disc drive, so physical game owners need to budget about $70 extra for the add-on drive. That missing drive is the main reason some shoppers passed on the deal.

Are people buying the pro for gta6 at rumored 60fps? I was considering but most of the games I play don't take much advantage of the hardware, except gt7 somewhat.

I went with the PS5 disc edition with an extra controller and a mouse (just go get to $500) which got me to just over $500 with the sale and the 10% off. Then I'll get the $100 off so end price is $403.
Screen of the game order ?? Please

I am opting not to do this because while it should not be reported to the credit bureau, according to ChatGPT, there is a chance it is reported even if paid on time, and some lenders might not be favorable on people who pay in installments. ChatGPT also noted that PayPal might inadvertently report a late payment even if it was paid on time. All in all, probably not worth the risk for me.
So the Ai has you under its control. That's how they want it.

Let me explain some intelligence to you. If it doesn't get reported to the credit agency, then it doesn't build your credit. Therefore, the only upsides are the financing should one want it, and any sort of incentive like the PayPal cashback. Other than that, it is possible downsides. If you read closely, I never said that paying on time would hurt your credit. I specifically said that it could show up on your credit and that some lenders *might* not be favorable on someone who pays in installments.

Using some natural intelligence, if a lender has the ability to loan to two separate people with all things being equal except that one person financed a small purchase and the other doesn't, that *might* play a role.

Here's a Wall Street Journal article discussing this with some snippets - https://www.wsj.com/personal-fina...?st=iUFkaL

---
Banks Hate 'Buy Now, Pay Later'-and May Penalize Its Users

Banks don't want you bingeing on "buy now, pay later" plans, and they say it might actually hurt your chances of getting approved for a mortgage or credit card.

Some of the popular point-of-sale loans from companies such as Affirm and Klarna will be factored into credit scores later this year when FICO rolls out its new scoring model. Using a loan to pay for a couch or a pair of pants in installments might improve your score if you keep up with payments, according to Fair Isaac FICO 3.93% Corp., the company behind the most widely used U.S. credit score.

Lenders are more wary. One credit union calls up customers who use BNPL and warns against it. A community bank scrutinizes loan applications more closely when it notices them in its underwriting.

FICO's new model will shed light on what has become a multibillion-dollar blind spot in the credit-reporting system. Because BNPL loans haven't widely been reported to credit bureaus.
I didn't read the article, but I can say if your response mirrors chunks of it, there are many factors that are being overlooked. When it comes to a lending decision, the biggest is history and the ability to repay.

For your example to be one of consideration, a person's debt ratio would need to be high and there be an excess amount of inquiries. There are too many other things to review than just having these installment loans. And you said "may," to someone else, the article also says "may penalize and might." so what are we really talking about.

And "a community bank" followed by the credit union wording is leaning toward small town organizations that would have the time to reach out regarding programs like Affirm/Klarna.

Don't let my response fool you, I can appreciate this being mentioned for those who over finance and need to read this.

Ahh thanks. I was expecting an extra $100 on top of the $300 quoted. This is less than Backmarket is offering ($320), so might not be the best option.

Agreed I bought the PS5 nba 2k26 bundle Friday morning and posted it shortly after. Didn't want to wait and risk a sell out and at some point between Friday and now the bundle is showing as out of stock.
